I absolutely HATE how Moonbyul worked so hard to be a star but she isn't even recognized. 🤯 She broke all the normal stereotypes like, "girls should stick to cute stuff" or "they should wear dresses or anything girly" she's most peoples damned role model. Stan Moonbyul. 🎤
I think she also has the most songs registered in her name out of any other idol
Look at the views of this song, its only 3.5 M after a year. The thing is Moonbyul doesnt attract creeps and immatured people. If she had shown skin, behaved in the traditional way or had any hetero dating scandal (a small one which will bring PR) she would have hained mass followers. She writes her own raps, has an amazing flow yet people are sleeping on her. I am quite sure now, after watching a lot of Kpop groups that maturity in concepts or talent dont have much to do with popularity.

You are not completely wrong but mind you, it takes time for people's preferences and perceptions to change. Plus, this is very different than what Mamamoo did as a group as well This is entirely Moonbyul's music with her flavor and touch so she needs time to cultivate her fans and a following of her own. (reality of a soloist that starts from a group)
Also imo, i dont think a male group would be able to pull off this song in this manner and complexity. Even if the lyrics. choreo and whatnot were all copy pasted. Thats just me tho. Moonbyul def has a following she just has to grow it now.

I feel that there should be one among the top comments that explains the meaning of the song for casual listeners who does not know Moonbyul well :) Her name Moonbyul actually translates directly to Moonstar (byul = star in Korean). The theme of this song is the duality within oneself, that everyone has a bright side and a dark side. The MOON covers the sun and darkness falls - this is portrayed by Monster (the black Moonbyul). But our Byulie can also be the STAR who shines on herself and people around her whenever the dark ego takes over (represented by the white Moonstar).
Moonbyul always says that she is not perfect, that she is just like any ordinary person who tries to be good in this complicated world (she is representing this struggle with the scene where she is being pulled by the ropes). She is always giving credits to Moomoos (fandom of Mamamoo) who taught her kindness and love. Now she is trying to say that she wants to give back the love - become a star, overcome the darkness and shine on you. Through this song (indeed also her first solo song Selfish) you can see her authentic self.
Just trying to bring another perspective to casual listeners. Not only does Moonbyul try to break gender stereotype, but she also manages to show who she really is and put forward a very personal message to her fans.
