      When the cars finally broke from repeated jumps on the ramped sidewalk...the tires were the highlight. Toy tires make unbelievable entertainment, showed my son this idea a few weeks ago,pretty sure the cars are all missing wheels now.

      Me and a friend did this for a whole weekend when I was about 12 I lived in Colorado. My friend lived on dirt mountain road with switchbacks. His dad had a whole barn full of old tires he wanted to get rid of....do I need to say more???? So much fun!

      "トリビアの泉(spring of trivia)". It was a show that introduced useless trivia with funny footage. This segment was called "トリビアの種 (seed of trivia)" which viewers submitted things they wondered about that had potential to become a trivia when discovered.

    Let's be real though, had the ramp not broken on the last tires run it would have flown clean into orbit.
    Side note, I love the announcement of the final jump being 40 meters and the "ooooooh!" that followed. I can just imagine the guy's face in head. Bless everyone involved in the making of this video!

    The tractor tire launch and landing was hilarious. It broke the ramp, crashed through the barriers and smashed into a chain link fench without anyone getting hurt.

      Heavy machinery tire would have won if the ramp was stronger. If they made that ramp out of steel, i think it would have won by a landslide. The energy it absorbed destroying the wood made it fall short.

    When I saw how huge the tire was, I thought “they aren’t actually going to launch that, right?”
    A few moments later, I was proven wrong and blown away as I watched that beast sail down that ski ramp like a professional, before destroying the entire structure in a show of true power. The fabled tire only just lost, but absolutely dominated the field, laying waste to all that was in its path. Truly revolutionary.

      Depending on the program, there seem to be many programs that invite experts, researchers, and engineers to seriously investigate silly things. There was an experiment where they shot plastic bullets at modern samurai to see if they could cut them with Iai-kiri (Battoujutsu). They were able to cut through a bullet of a few millimeters.

    Can we take a moment to appreciate the professionalism and dedication of the release man. Appropriately dressed to ensure the tyres are not contaminated, a master of the fair release making sure no tyre has an unfair launch advantage. Even with the last one which he could launch the same he eased it over the edge giving it no bias. Truly beautiful

    Edit: i thought the ramp was made of steel or maybe was part of the hill so it surprised me that it was just plain wood against a 200kg fast rolling object

      We can't do anything like this in the land of the free. Our overlords think it is way to dangerous. They are looking out for our safety because they care so much about us. They would need every agency in the country to do 10 years of studies and research to make sure it was OK to write 25 permits to allow such a dangerous sport to take place for one day. Refs, official judges, three weeks of building safety containment areas and 20 licenses and training courses. 10 million dollars later there would be a possible approval or denial.
