One of the things this video reinforces and makes obvious is that one of the midseason rules changes (that the NBA totally didn’t make! lol) is that hand checking is legal again. Half the pokeaways and good screen navigations shown in the video have two hands firmly on the defender. Not saying you have to like or dislike the changes. But it’s definitely more than just calling less body contact on shots or being more weary of grifting (which, it’s still frustratingly depends wildly on the player)

Twolves prove defense can be fun to watch cause they just suffocate the opposing offense. This is the defensive games i wont complain about cause its just a great defense instead of just the opposing team sucking offensively.

I said it at the beginning of the year, if KAT can get back into a good mental space and be locked in, this team could go all the way. I didn’t think he could do it but I’m glad I was wrong.

Suns is an example of what happens when you put a few "superstars" together thinking that this way you will create a "super-team"

    What a set of tools to have at your disposal … Rudy - 7’1 with 7’9 wingspan. KAT - 7ft w/ 7’3 wingspan and athletic McDaniels - 6’10 w/ 7ft wingspan. Quick NAW - 6’5 w/ 6’10 wingspan. Quick Ant - 6’5 w/ 6’9 wingspan. Strong. Athleticism god.

11:33 that mirroring by Ant is incredible here. So much respect goes out to players that can defend this well. What an impossible job, needing to always be the one reacting to the offense, always one step behind. But then have this level of success. Makes you wonder how many nba players *could* be great defenders if they would just commit themselves to maximum effort, and sacrifice their energy to make sure the most difficult jobs get done.

  • @Colinkrauss1
    @Colinkrauss1 16 시간 전

How many players have a wider gap between what many casuals *think a player can do on defense vs what they can actually do on defense, than Rudy Gobert. To this day, I know people that still say “Gobert can’t be your center tho cause he just gets torched by guards”. Even if that was true at some point, most of it was because his supporting cast on the perimeter sucked at stopping penetration.

  • @therocklau

Finch figured something out, he found a really good way to attack Sun's rotation, McDaniels or Alexander-Walker attack from 45 degree in directly at Nurkic, Nurkic is a very good NBA centre but his turning speed is as terrible as you can imagine, he has no shot of doing anything to the slashing action, and their defensive system don't know how to protect Nurkic in this angle, they left him to die. Since Sun's scorers trio are all mid-rangers, this pretty much kills the matchup, no matter how insane a shot KD made on offense, the wolves can run a simple DHO and score 2 back, with much higher efficiency, and with a defensive first player who is never gonna be as good as KD (not a shot, KD is one of the best offense player). And what you gonna do, not playing Nurkic at all? They don't have a second option, Eubanks just isn't good enough, and when you play small against the wolves, Finch will simply let Conley and Gobert run PNR over and over again, Gobert is bad at offense but if the offense is so simple just "dunk it", he can be Shaq. The series is over.

Wolves can go really really far this year!

  • @stephencook8398

No movement away from the ball except for the screener. Terrible offensive design. KD and Beal need to cut to the rim without the ball more.

  • @ChanBoogie310

Defense is all about effort and wanting to play it. When you got all five players with that same effort it’s hard for even the best Offensive teams to play against it especially when you have good solo defenders. Also people need to realize this is what Rudy needed good perimeter and schemes to where he could do his part.

  • @eshnajizzle

This is what defense is supposed to look like. Not saying it's perfect, just that this is proper defence unlike the regular season garbage.

  • @ChanBoogie310

I know it may be a stretch but Twolves could legit win the championship. They have the defense the superstar and the chemistry and role players needed to win.

  • @zsomborszigeti6797

Why are we speculating about whether he would have been good with a great guard, when he did play with Clyde Drexler and although he was past his prime, he was still good enough to be the second best player on a championship team, at least offensively.

Coach Finch should be praised for preaching good habits and efforts at the defensive end. Look at the Ant man picking up Beal full court. Not many star players are willing to do that.

  • @justinadams159

They’re playing the suns though!!! There is no true point guard, and no real power forward just like three small forwards or shooting guards playing streetball with scabs at the one and five

If you watch the 2 games, Wolves didn’t do any double team against one of the best offensive players in KD, Book and Beal. They did one on one and help defense. They didn’t do what the Suns did with Ant in Game 1 where they double team him from half court. That’s how the Wolves trust each other in defense. They have Jaden, NAW, Ant and they have Rudy waiting at the back.z
