Let's be clear here about what you are most likely seeing. All aircraft, whether jet turbine or recip will contrail between certain flight levels, based on conditions. If you consider that the whole airmass is moving, what may look like cross-hatching sweeps of "chem trails" is usually just departures and arrivals into the airport about 100-200 miles away from you. An aircraft, especially coming off an air route for arrival past the same land-based navigation aids into the airport pattern a few minutes apart will look like very deliberate pattern of spraying to some, but spraying "chemicals" at 20,000ft plus makes little sense. When spraying chemicals for mosquito control, they spray from about 500 feet, and it looks nothing like contrails. You're ALWAYS going to see these when conditions exist for it, so you may want to look up "cloud seeding methods" or "mosquito vector control spraying methods" or "mass administration thorazine" to see the difference.
