Shawn you definitely need to invest in a Log Dog with a long hickory handle. It’ll give you much more leverage when turning big logs over. Just google log dog or log dawg I forget how the company that makes them spells it, I think it’s Log Dog is the patented name. They’re made exactly like the small one you was using in the video but much larger and have a big long Heavy hickory or Oak handle. One would make your job so much easier turning them logs over.

Never drag off the tow ball, they are not designed to take that much weight in that direction. Put it through the pin or get a D shackle insert. Accident waiting to happen.

a cant hook with a long wooden handle would make rolling over log easier on your back.

Ok it's time to trade that old jolopy sawmill in and get you a fully automated sawmill that does all the flipping of the log and has a auto lift bars too lift the log up onto the bed. Auto stop bars to keep the log from rolling off the bed both sides. Has the auto slab return after it cut the slab or whatever dimension wood your milling. Your getting to old to keep lugging and tugging on those huge logs to turn them a quarter trun to cut another side. You finally got the tractor you definitely needed and now you need to upgrade the sawmill .it will make it so much easier on your body and so.much quicker milling the limber for everything. I watch Mike Morgan's channel "OUTDOORS WITH THE MORGANS" and he just upgraded to I think it's the LT-50 WIDE Series mill and it's got most of the automation he and you both need. Kills my back and shoulders everytime I watch you having to haul and lift those heavy logs and turn them with that thingamajig. You will appreciate the automated mill when you get it and when you are 65 70 75 and 80, believe me. I learned the hard way and I've had two right shoulder replacements and it's still not right and my left shoulder needs it but waiting and may never get it done because the right one didn't go so well. I abused it so much for 40 yrs the replacments just didn't work for mine. Both knees have been replaced. Left Achilles tendon ruptured and surgically repaired . Carpel tunnel in both hands and wrists with arthritis of coarse.I will be 64 in oct this yr. Don't let yourself get to my physical destruction because it's painful all the time Shawn. I also have chronic kidney disease and went through surgery after surgery to clean them out then had t Robotic surgery to repair the right ureter tube from the right kidney to my bladder. Had to cut off the last inch going into my kidney it clogged and collapsed . Cut it off and stretched and sewed it back to the kidney wall and hole and so far a yr later it's doing OK as far as I know. Tests are coming in July to find out. That whole kidney process was over two yrs long . The right one is only functioning at 21%. When it drops to 15% it has to come out.left one is at 79% so I'm good there and of course can live with one thank god. I'm praying that day never comes and the right one continues on at 21% . Both kidneys were completely packed full of stones . That's what the forst 4 surgeries were for,to clean all that out and get them flowing again and they are. I already know you take great care of yourself Shawn I just worry about your joints and back lifting and turning on those logs and you've been doing it for quite some time now with builing the cabin and rolling logs around and all the milling and turning logs. Time for automation Mr James. Spend those big bucks your making & saving and save your body you will be glad you did

I struggle to watch you turning the logs on the mill. Use your straps with your loader and rig them in a way that as you lift the strap rolls the log.

Shawn, get a draw bar for your tractor. Fits right on the 3 point. That way you can lift the front end of the log when skidding it out. Way better than having it dig in and break roots, etc. like a plow. Towing on that hitch ball is not so good. Bet that pine is gonna make some pretty lumber when it is smooth and finished.
