They should have kept in the scene with Brian and Claire acting out their families, the books scene, Alison at the locker with Andy, it added to their characters in a cool way. The janitor scene idk I mean it was cruel but ironic and hilarious but not necessary. All these deleted scenes added more humour even to Vernon. Brian and Claire deserved more character scenes and at least them talking about their families added some power to their otherwise quite passive characters. Brian's squeals at the end lol hilarious 25:20

That was incredible what an incredibly different movie it would have been if these scenes were included. Maybe there should have been a second version like a directors cut or something with this version.

Hershey’s Really Big 3D Show literally shows that the studio could have done SO much better with Foodfight but they made that movie one of the most unbearable and worst movies I have seen in my life!

I guess I'll take responsibility for the viewscreen blowing up and drifting into space. I was never happy with it. We didn't have physics in software back then, so that was all done by hand. If you watch frame by frame, you see the warping and melting of the paneling, the screen going to static before shutting off, the screen shattering, and all the pieces breaking way into the fixed part of the wreckage that had to fit the shape of the view area very closely. I also remodeled the inside of Copernicus station because the original's scale was too small to accommodate the Olympia. The, we spent a long time waiting for someone to do the final explosion using hypervoxels, and when that didn't work out, we had to redo it with stock explosions which we slowed down quite a bit. I also handled the Borg bird, the bord, that flew in front of the audience and blew up, and then the Voyager flying over the camera at the end and the return to the station, with the worker bees repairing the damage that took place at the beginning of the video. I also stuck Dizzy from the Roughneck Chronicles walking in the scene at the end.

I don't know why the gathering of soda money was not included on the blu-ray. I'm guessing John cut it out immediately so it wasn't part of his "director's cut." Still I thought it would be featured here. Different sources for different scenes.

As I watched this, I realized that the different personalities represented by the five students are the different sides of each of us, some we show the world and some we keep hidden, even from ourselves.

Love the 80s such a great film

I just saw this film for the first time - Amazing! Zsolt, a 40 year old interior shop window decorator with a glorious mustache and matching suit, arrives at the apartment of a nurse friend on the day he is supposed to marry a friend of hers. What a soundtrack! Bottles and Oxygen at 25:10 is my favourite. That's the life of a diver - bottles and oxygen. Zsolt In the Rain just is driving for me now. That scene in the film is beautifully done with oil paints over animation to capture the feeling of rain on a windscreen. If you ever get a chance to see the film, don't miss it! It's Bubble Bath in English.

Most of the scenes I think should of been cut, like the girls' bathroom scene- a very cringey and gritty distraction from the messages of the film. Allison's trashing of the locker was also something that surely should have been tossed. I always regarded Bender's knowledge of (or speculation about) Claire's mother to be big plot hole in the theatrical release. I can see why some people would have actually wanted that line moment to be cut from the original movie, as it was a bit inexplicable. Carl's scene (the big lecture) was extremely powerful- it makes hair stand up. Had it been left in, it would have easily been the most memorable moment in the whole film, and would have even changed the perspective of the movie. I think the reason they they cut it was that it was too deterministic. People in the US (unlike in Russia) aren't fans of fatalistic narratives. There's good and bad in everything as the saying goes, and so is that trait. On an unrelated note, some people say things like "the library is the sixth character" but you need a massive space like that if there's going to be attention placed on the five teenagers. The neon lighting around the edge of the library was eerily ahead of its time. To have a library that big, that school would have needed to have thousands of students, many of whom wouldn't have known each other. Bender's remark to Allison "I've seen you before you know" was very fitting in such a context.

I miss the 1980s. It's something about those days. Simpler times. Everyone did the same things. We were more social.

Mok has been an icon since I was a wee lad. So rarely do you get a effeminate villain who is threatening both you life and to steal your girl. Mok and the Goblin King have the same energy.

the discovery of this feels like looking into an alternate universe. I can picture adults thinking back to watching this movie in the theatre as a kid, and remembering how strange and surreal it was, even if neither its animation nor its story were that great. the story behind this movie has turned out to remind me a lot of the story behind The Thief and The Cobbler. They were both unusually ambitious projects for animated movies that sadly did not become a reality.
