Programs like this are a crash course in learning "life is pain, and everyone hates you for being born, so shut up." I don't plan to have children, but if I do, I'll do everything I can to not be THIS. The part about seeing other kids angrily lashing out and being very violently restrained, while everyone else was quiet, hit me hard. I saw that many times. They had strait jackets and needles, and they did not once ever, ever, ever, herd us back into our rooms while these outbursts were being "contained." They wanted us to watch what happens if you don't go along with the program. I made a lot of friends there despite the staff's best effort, due to our shared suffering. I wonder how many of them are doing all right today. The devils who run these things should be in prison.

Uhm.. there is no actual audio from the 999 call... so Hailey's rendition of it is just the way she imagined it might be. You are inferring tonality and inflection which may or, and probably more likely; may not have been the actual way this call played out. More likely, the 999 operator was just confirming she heard him right by repeating what he said. Hailey made it sound like the operator was annoyed but she probably wouldn't have actually sounded like that. discernment folks...

I think these cases need to be looked at with more compassion and nuance. The blame shouldn’t be placed solely on the girl. There is a bigger conversation to be had than “she’s selfish”. In this specific case, if they can actually prove she killed her baby in the bathroom then she should go to jail but why would she have her mom taker her to a public place just to kill it? If she did know she was gonna kill it why would she name him?

This pisses me off how people think she’s selfish and a monster. Look dude, I agree that killing a baby, a living human is horrible and practically unforgivable but put yourself in her shoes the young lady who was so afraid that she ran away to give birth herself. Also there have been people who had absolutely no idea they were pregnant, she could had never known and I believe she didn’t I truly believe she had no idea, and likely freaked when she felt it’s head which caused her to run to the bathroom. First of all imagine all that went through her mind, she is a cheerleader, someone who was popular who likely had a whole life ahead of her and hundreds of eyes peering down at her. Many had looked up to her, you have to understand the amount of shame she was likely feeling and the amount of hate she felt she would get along with the blood loss while she gave birth to the child alone. No one who just gave birth would be thinking clearly and I highly doubt she was thinking clearly at all, she reacted with instinct believing that child was going to ruin her life so with her fight and flight active she pulled apart the cord connecting the child to her and she killed it without thinking of the consequences. I pity her. I don’t believe she is a monster, and her mother had made it worst for her when her daughter could have had a shred of possibly having a normal life again and making up for what she had done. May the baby rest in peace but shame on every biological women here for not taking a single second to understand another women’s fear.
