Steve Winwood - Interview: 21st February 1983
Join us in listening to an interview that Steve Winwood conducted in 1983.
When this interview was recorded, Steve was three albums deep into his solo career. Talking Back to the Night had been recently released on which Winwood played every instrument, a method he had started on his successful Arc of a Diver. While Lisa Robinson and Steve discuss these more current albums here, the focus is mostly on his past, resulting in a few great sound bites about his time with Traffic and Blind Faith.

We didn't look for our way here and yet we know exactly where we actually belong. Can't find my way home because out there is the illusion and the paradise within us. Thanks for the music Steve, it comes from where we are at home, in the heart of the sun. May I share with you my song from today? krplus.net/bidio/kp2ofX6kZpmbp6Asi=ha1MvxF308apPNZw
And he's a white dude. The only person that can make an organ sound cool as ...❤

❤❤❤
That voice is so soulful
Steve Winwood is a legend
Ever so beautiful! Steve is sincere, humble and oh so talented! Thank you for bringing us the music that carried/carries us through our journey!
Respectfully, Tom Petty should have been opening for Steve Winwood. Steve is a master instrument player and a master of the Hammond organ, mandolin, guitar, piano and any instrument that you can think of. He plays them all. A true musician.
I'm getting so much inspiration and motivation from this, thank you Steve. I had to quit playing sax nearly 20 years ago, jaw issues. I've recently been thinking about ways to make music without joint issues. I still have my Yamaha WX-5 MIDI wind controller, the VL70M tone generator that I got with it has synth voices that are on the studio version of this. I can hear myself playing along to this, in my head, with those voices. I'm just starting to scratch the surface of Albeton Lite, got an Akai VCP64 arriving in a few days. Been brushing up on my music theory, remembered that it's all just modes and intervals. It broke my heart to have to stop playing acoustic sax. The WX-5 was my practise instrument, I haven't played it in years because it wasn't my tenor sax; that and being concerned about a reoccurrence of TMD. But I'm ready now, to switch it of of B flat (no more transposing!!!! of the joy!) and use it as an eight octave MIDI controller. If I got some creative ideas with expression pedals, for vibrato, if my jaw can't take it. Wish me luck because I need to find my way home.
Love this song. Bought the album 3 weeks ago and two others for my birthday 🎉. Haven't opened it yet.😊
Love this. Would love a similar stripped back, emotive rendition of anything off Arc of a Diver, an album of underrated & understated genius. A lot like the man himself. God bless you Steve Winwood & many, many thanks for all the beautiful, beautiful music.
love this song !!!!
Canción de mi Vida❤❤❤❤
😎👍❤
Pure Class!
Absolutely, 😊❤
Most under rated musician!!😂🎉

Steve, eternal boy
@SteveWinwood, this is such a timeless song. Every time I hear it, it feels like the first time.❤❤❤
I've learnt to play it in standard tuning but it will never sound this good. I wouldn't mind jamming with Steve to learn it properly
This song had perfect placement at the end of Fandango.
❤❤😎
De las pocas canciones que me hacen viajar a los años '60, simplemente mágica
Just beautiful! Thank's for sharing Steve!
Maestro Steve Winwood❤!!!
This is the best song ever! Simply mesmerizing.
This is the first song I learned to play on my guitar. Time seems to stand still when my fingers sound the notes. It is perfect.
Our kid needs a trip to Turnbull & Asser to raise his shirt game.
This song was on loop when I was on the road at the beginning of the scamdemic.
My absolute favorite ❤️
Steve is playing Bass with the organ foot
Steve, close our eyes and it's 1969 !
Awesome song writer, singer , guitarist, human....
For all that's superb in popular music, look no further than Steve Winwood.
Possibly the best song of the age it came from. Definitely a soundtrack to life in the late 20th century. Written on my heart.
Un Vero Maestro!!!
One of your most beautiful songs! ♥️
