(Oh Hun...my heart is breaking for you and your family, I can't even Imagine the pain, as I have never lost a baby like that, and I know words come as a comfort but there is no comfort in knowing your little baby girl is in a Urn instead of in the Nursery or in your Arms... I guess all I can say is many prayers for you, and many Healing vibes, and to know this, she may not be in your arms but she is always there by your side.....she is now your Gaurdian Angle and she will always be there for you to protect you and her dad and her siblings.... Talk to her she will hear you.....she might have been so tiny at birth but once she gained her wings she is a young little girl...look for signs of her she will let you know she is there by your side...Hugs Hun...and i am so sorry for your loss Hun...

How often should I write to my sponsored child? I was thinking of writing after I receive letters back, but the delivery process can be slow - up to 6 months, through Plan. Should I wait until I get the welcome letter from her?

I sponsor 3 children through Save the Children, a girl from Mali, a boy from Indonesia and a girl from the United States. I love it. The girl from Mali is my new sponsor child so I haven't received anything on her yet. But I get excited when I receive something in the mail about them or a letter. I haven't received one from my girl in the United States and I've been sponsoring her since April. She's 6, but 6 year olds can write something or color a picture. Save the Children has sent me notes saying they are trying to get her to write to me. My boy in Indonesia has written me several letters and drew pictures. I get a lot of pictures of houses lol but I'm learning new words in his language. I love it.

Here is why they ask you NOT to send gifts to your sponsor child, as much as we all want to (and believe me, I want to also), but if you really think about this, it DOES make sense: sending gifts to your sponsor child hurts the feelings of the children who never receive anything from their sponsor ("Does MY sponsor love ME?"), hurts the feelings of other siblings of the sponsor child who don't get a gift ("maybe someday I'll get socks too") and makes your child a potential bully target due to the envy of other children in the village who now think your child is special and spoiled. It's best to keep everything on an even level for your child in their village, and not cause them to become envied by their playmates. That puts them in an unwanted spotlight. Gifts through the organization, like bed nets and medications, are most desired and most needed.
