Once upon a time...Robert was considered a joke. A joke very similar to Hayden Christensen. Now,he works with respected actors and directors and became one of my favorites on Indie cinema.
Good to see actors able to recover from movies that usually end up irreparably damaging their careers.
Same as Kristen Stewart. Watch her in Personal Shopper, she is quite good.
Same with Dakota Johnson, too!

A24 are owning the game. I’ve been very impressed with nearly everything they have put their name to in recent years. Plus I love to see Robert Patterson getting roles in smaller indie projects where his talent is showcased more. He was fantastic in “The Rover”, “The Lost City Of Z” and “Good Times”.
It's funny you say that because I just watched The Rover and Good Times because I liked thus demented movie so much. And those were great too. That Rover movie is supposed to be Australia right?
He was very good in “The Devil All the Time” and “The Lighthouse”.

That’s definitely how they’ve decided to market it. I have a feeling it will be slower paced than this though. Considering that I got more of a Tarkovsky “Solaris” vibe from the first trailer I saw of this.

For those wonedering: This film is the kind of movie that highly depends on your mood. You can either love it or hate it depending on how you feel about the themes this film portrays. In terms of acting, surprisingly it has a great acting from Robert Pattinson, perhaps one of his bests performances to date, meanwhile the rest of the cast while having a solid acting doesn't really shine as much as this guy did -no pun intended-. Anyho' I don't wanna spoil anything, but this is the kind of movie that the rating is mostly up to the viewer and I encourage people to watch it just to at least remove the Twigligth veil from Robert.
I hated the film but Robert gave a fantastic performance.
Hold on I disagree with the point that this was Robert Pattinson's best performance.
I believe his performance in movie Light House was High tier.

I think R-Patz lost the Twilight stigma long ago. Hell even K-Stew lost the Twilight stigma. Both are respected actors now. I'm happy for em.

He's really going down the DiCaprio route of starting out as a boilerplate romance lead that people scoff at to becoming an incredibly talented lead in fantastic movies.

No.. Everyone knew he was a capable actor. He just had his money making stage. He's an incredible actor and a fantastic musician.

This is why I love films. Thank you A24 and Claire Denis.
Pretty good for such a small budget. Veteran French filmmaker Claire Denis said, "I can do sci-fi!" and she did. The actors make it work, as it is a bleak, brutal story in a a hospital/prison-like space. Also good to see a sci-fi film acknowledge that light speed is probably not possible. This boxy ship travels at 99% the speed of light.

i always thought that movies with small budget are greatest than others cause all accents are on the scenario and cinematography, actors and how they play. i understand this after watching many movies using boxxy software and for free. am i an expert?))

The Director Claire Denis is so amazing I'll watch anything she makes, it's definitely gonna be an amazing piece of art like her other films. Can't wait for this..

I'm not a huge fan of creepy movies, but A24 has been killing it with films like The VVitch and Hereditary, and this film looks like it'll follow suit.
Michael Strong if you’re expecting a story like hereditary and the VVitch you’re going to be very disappointed. This is a great film but being marketed wrongly.

I have a feeling I’ll love this film. Specifically because it seems like if someone made an actually good remake of Tarkovsky’s “Solaris”. Which I wouldn’t necessarily want, but this movie gives me those vibes. Love seeing films today every now and then that have so much passion put into the vision and cinematography.

The director did do casting for Tarkovsky's last movie, but I think she was more thinking of Stalker than Solaris.

This movie really messed me up and left me feeling depressed. The black hole scene triggered my 6 year old child mind and obsession/fear of them; I was scarred.
One of the best sci-fi films of 2019, and not for mainstream conventional audiences. Excellent cast, awesome dystopia. 🎥

I really liked this film.The Baby crying in start got a bit loud but the cast did a fantastic job keeping the "Isolated" and "Cold" motif very real.Juliette Binoche,still lovely and I could watch her butter bread.Her part is the binding glue for the entire script and she did wonderful.She was the Doctor,overseer,chemist and was her purpose to assure the missions success.The sexual aspect I know may seem overdone,but actually,this is how we would be in isolation of deep space,fighting to hold onto a scrap of our humanity.These were criminals that rather than being wasted,were used for benefit of mankind.Very real script and well done by entire cast.After Miss Binoche and her long hair locks,I could set and remark of her all day long,still so lovely.There will be mixed reviews for certain regarding this film as some like to imagine we humans would be more civilized ,but no,this captured us perfectly within our human condition.Worth the time for certain..
This film did kind of remind me of Under the Skin, being very confusing on my first viewing. I can definitely see why people would hate this, and I don't blame them, as it is a slow burn at times with a non-linear structure. But to me the film kept me interested throughout (mostly due to the way it was presented as well as the performances) and I might need to rewatch it sometime in the future.

They didn't make this movie they just did the distribution for one country. The movie was already finished when they saw it at a festival and bought the distribution rights.

I watched this movie at TIFF in September 2018, and let me just say that trailer doesn’t do justice to the movie. It’s not for everyone’s sensibility and may shock a lot of people, but i think that was the intent of the movie. Personally, i liked it. A little disturbing at times, but overall, it’s Oscar worthy

It’s almost as if A24 can do no wrong. Quietly and persistently calling cinema to its higher self, even when it missteps. May it keep its inner workings happy and enlightened so they can keep on at it.
Well they can go wrong sometimes (like in this movie). They have lots of great films but also bad ones too.

It officially gets released in April. Hopefully they’ve worked the kinks out of it and have the best version they can get, since I do want that to at least be decent. And the reviews from Cannes have me worried.
I’ve seen it, it’s GREAT! But I can tell some ppl won’t get it and that may make them not like it.. it’s over 2 hours so I hear they are cutting it down, so technically I saw the directors cut.
