There was a time when I thought Saoirse was pretentious and her accent exaggerated, but I view as very genuine and an excellent actress, both in movies and in the theater. And yes she has a Wicklow accent.
This is adorable. It's so nice to see everybody, even the less "important" characters, being included and questioned. And it's so relaxed and no one is attempting to be too eloquent, they're just being casual. And for once, timothée doesn't steal the whole show. (Not that I would mind, I adore him)
The beauty of this movie is that there is not really less important characters. I love Shelly and Ladybirds brother.

Yeah, I think it definitely shows that timothée is really talented without having to be the main character or always on the spotlight. And like you said, he does either just as well as the other. It’s great to see when an actor isn’t always picking the same kind of roles and trying new things too!

I feel like independent films always have the “average” rating from non-film-goers. Movies like Lady Bird and CMBYN look average from the outside, but when looking into it-the story is so much more deep than it looks.
Johnny EXACTLY!! People just don’t know how to watch film and fully understand in every way possible. The more you examine the film and talk about it, the more you understand it and learn more about it.

Been a supporter since the start. Enemy, Ex Machina and Room were brilliant, and of course Moonlight for last year’s win. I’d actually rank Florida Project, Killing of a Sacred Deer and Good Time ahead of Lady Bird for 2017, with Disaster artist also up there. GREAT year.
rhythmoriented Those are all great but you forgot to mention A Ghost Story which came out this year! Yeah Disaster Artist is in my top 3 of the year! I love it!
Mega MovieZ yea. Into the soundtrack for Ghost Story, and waiting for the right time to sit down and watch it. So many others too, with The Witch coming to mind. A24 seems to have a keen eye for films that don’t quite fit the mold of what the big studios seek out.
rhythmoriented Yeah all A24 films are deep and powerful in some way or another. Yes watch The Witch and Ghost Story. Also check out It Comes At Night and Green Room. All these movies are streaming on Amazon Prime if you have that. A24 is my favorite film studio and I hope to make a film with them one day.

I know nobody on that stage won their respectable Oscar nominations, but the recognition alone will escalate their careers. Any press is good press. Saoirse is a good example of that (obviously talent has a lot to do with it too).

I loved the movie! ALL the cast is sensational. The only thing that I disliked was the ending, because it left me wanting more. A bit abrupt. But that's just me.
Ladybird (Christine) will continue to figure things out, all while being true to herself and totally awesome. But ya, what exactly will she do? I know she is going to be okay though.
That was kind of the point of the ending. It was meant to be abrupt and sad with the intention to leave people hanging. As you see before the screen goes black to the credits, Lady Bird looks around after hanging up. And she looked very lost and was full of homesickness, not knowing what the next step was without the usual assurance of her parents' nagging on what to do next etc as she was now left all alone.
Amazing young actors (and of course the great Laurie Metcalf). Such a special movie.

You should see the great Ms. Ronan in “Brooklyn” and one of her earlier films, “Atonement.” She is outstanding in both films.

I can see Three Billboards winning Best Picture. I hate saying this word because it's being overthrown a lot, but I just find 'The Shape of Water' to be overrated. It's good, just not as good as most people say.
CMBYN seems lost its momentum since it didn't even win a single Golden Globe. I can't see it taking the best picture following the year of Moonlight.
I think Call Me is gonna win best picture exactly because Moonlight did last year. It's funny because I think Three Billboards is overrated, I liked it but I suffered with the pacing problems and stuff like that. Doesn't mean it won the Golden Globes that it will win the Oscars, I think
Reionder Nah! It didn't win a single Golden Globe or not even best picture at the Critics Choice Awards which is closer to what the Oscars pick. It's going to Shape of Water, Three Billboards, or Lady Bird and honestly those three deserve it most.

Screen time isn't everything as you could argue background characters have more than key characters with important scenes in films (I don't understand why you think he shouldn't be there even though as I've said he had a SAG nomination as part of the ensemble which is what this q&a is for)

I'm with Greta, i don't consider Kyle to be a douchebag or as awful as other people think he is. He's just a teenager, with family problems, who knows he's smart and attractive but also in his own world, with strong, different opinions than other kids his age.
