@Aritosthenes Well--knowing there was a script--it was one of the REALEST feeling movies I've ever seen. Felt very very improvised.
Adam Sandler has some of his best moments of his career playing a man who was never and will never be satisfied.
I'm a sports fan and know that the Celtics win--still on the edge of my seat!

The ending!!!! Again--that dude wasn't even an actor but somehow managed to knock that role out of the park.

I think that's because their films have a very human and real feeling to them. Like the characters and worlds feel super real instead of being clearly "action", or "horror", or "fantasy".

I love how A24 can push out EVERY kind of movie imaginable! From disturbing and fucked-up movies like THE WITCH and MIDSOMMAR, to fast and anxiety-inducing movies like UNCUT GEMS and GOOD TIME, to slow burn movies like UNDER THE SKIN and THE LIGHTHOUSE, to kickback and heartfelt movies like FIRST COW. Goes to show that they truly do have a versatile eye for artists!

I thought this was gonna be a twisted psychological thriller about the very first cow hoarder who slowly went insane, submitted into bestiality and ended up discovering milk while trying to avoid incarceration/institutionalization from the townspeople.

No I hate it. I arew up in the 1990s with this awful 4:3 ratio and I won't watch anything in it. I've missed watching films because of it. It distracts my eyes!
@@BarcelonasHotCrowd The difference is that First Cow was shot with the 4:3 aspect ratio in mind. Films in the 90s were modified to fit the 4:3 ratio. But, yeah. That period sucked.

Kelly Reichardt finally receiving the recognition she deserves ♡♡ She has made some overlooked and amazing independent films like Old Joy (2006) and Wendy & Lucy (2008) and she cast her real dog (Lucy) in these films. She dedicated Certain Women (2016) to her dog after she died. I really hope she wins an OSCAR this year for FIRST COW ♡♡

Watched it on the weekend at home and really enjoyed it, but it helps if you're in the right mood and don't mind long scenes where nothing happens, especially in the beginning. Took a while for it to pick up but worth it in the end.

I've yet to be disappointed by a Kelly Reichardt movie and this looks like yet again, an amazing, poetic piece on the human condition. Just watched Certain Women again recently and it's like a breath of fresh, cool still air within the deafening noise of action movies. Wendy & Lucy is a heartbreaking and personal movie and while I'm at it and the time period of this one, Meeks Cutoff is definitely recommend too.
