I saw the movie opening day Friday and I am STILL thinking about it almost a week later. This movie will leave a lasting impression and some of the scenes will be engraved in my mind forever.
Especially that car scene 30 minutes in
I saw it almost a week ago, during the night some of the faces and scenes are in my mind and I can't even sleep very well, but I loved the movie

I sobbed after the credits. I don't even know why. I wasn't like sad or scared of anything really, since I've seen so many horror movies. But for some reason, this was super disturbing. I felt like I just woke up from a weird nightmare after the end. Still have no idea why I started crying though.
KatKost I mean it’s a pretty sad film when you think about it. The scene when you hear the mom go out to the car to find *spoiler* had me on the verge of tears, especially the scene after where she’s collapsed on the ground with her husband. The director definitely used the disturbing plot to drive home the feeling of grief
Carlos fernandez I think it was all the disturbing imagery. It honestly spooked me.
KatKost I cried three times during the film...especially during the *spoiler* scene that Carlos was referring to. I actually screamed “oh my god” out loud during that scene and bursted into tears. It upset me so much. The movie, as a whole, was phenomenal but seriously upsetting and disturbing.
the scene where shes begging her husband with the book oh my god i honestly was on the edge of a breakdown in that moment
i cried an hour after leaving the cinema, while thinking about the movie. it has that lasting effect. also a random kid was crying by the side of the road while i was going home and it scared the shit out of me
This is the performance the world has been waiting for from Toni Collette. She drives the film with raw emotion, and powerful moments that tear you to shreds as she takes us through the shattering breakdown of a woman's battle with greif. This performance is flawless, by far the most impeccable work of her career. Her performance is more than Academy Award worthy, a complete game-changer for her career. She is the reason to see Hereditary. Toni deserves every ounce of praise and awards season buzz she's getting. Her work grabs you and shakes you to the core, and stays with you endlessly. It's all or nothing, and she not only proves her worth as one of the greatest and most powerful actresses of our time, her portrayal of Annie Graham is one of the greatest female performances to grace us in the last decade.

Watching it again multiple times late at night the past 2 weeks, i can 100% seriously say this is the STRANGEST & most fucked up movie due to what goes on. Im not exaggerating. It gives me chills every single time i watch it at night.
Toni Collette is, at least to me, the best actress of our time. She is second to none and proves it with this one in a million performance!❤🤯

I watched this, and this is my favorite horror movie of all time. It is absolutely brilliant. I love it and how intelligent the story is. Some people hate it because they don't understand the movie, or don't pay attention to everything that happens, but I did and I loved it. Amazing work yet again A24. I am actually thinking about doing an internship for you guys when I am in college!
I loved this film! LOVED it. I don't think there will be a better performance than Collette's this year. It will be a HUGE disappointment if she isn't nominated come Oscar time. I was spellbound by her in this film. She has to go through so many emotions and nails it all.

@@mona__nyc well, my opinion has since changed. Ari Aster’s movies have a strange effect on me. The first 2 times I watched Hereditary I hated it, but then by the 5th time I absolutely loved it & couldn’t stop rewatching it. I’ve seen it make 11 times in my whole life. It was the same with Midsommar, I hated it the first 2 or 3 times but now I love & appreciate it, I’ve only seen it 5 times though cause I have it on dvd. As for Beau Is Afraid, that’s the one exception where I immediately liked his movie on first watch & I’ve only seen it twice so far, once in theaters & the second time on dvd & I still love it. Ari Aster has become my favorite director now.
