Biden's inauguration video up on the White House's YT channel (at the time of writing this) was 11k likes to 53k dislikes. Doing some quick math/comparing the two with four major news channels of the likes and dislikes Trump has an average of 2.69 L/D (like to dislike) while Biden has a 1.57 L/D.
Point to all this is they're trying to say he's a popular president? I'm not buying it now and I guess we'll see in 4 years what this is like

I voted for Biden but I don't fully agree with this speech. The United States have failed many times. We are not special. Pretending our flaws and failures don't exist, or in any way trying to diminish them, actively damages our progress. This speech is too political- too forgiving. We need to be accountable for our Military Industrial Complex and the incalculable harm it has done to this world and to ourselves. We are only "good" as long as we remain vigilant and skeptical.

I think you’re right, but I think the goal of this speech was to try to unify America by telling us that we are special. We went through four years of Trump using an “us and them” strategy that divided us, and I think Biden is working to make people remember how we are people and we are capable of good. I fully agree that there are MULTIPLE things we have to fix. We are far from perfect. But we have to start somewhere.

I don't understand how the country turned into this in 4 short years. Although 2020 felt like a lifetime. I honestly hope we get back to the way we were. I never cared about politics before. Most people didn't. Politics was that thing that happened in the background of life. You saw a couple bumper stickers touting who people voted for and that was about it. So many other things were important. There were so many other things to talk about. Now, politics is the forefront of so many people's lives. I've never seen so many people so outspoken about who their candidate of choice is. I've never seen a group so outspoken they stormed the Capitol building. Politics is something I see every day now. Covid was very early turned into a red vs blue issue. Now it's a political statement whether or not you wear a mask. I hope Biden is right, that we can get through Covid together as a country this time around. I'd love to get back to being social and seeing live music and movies at the theater again.
