Bernthal is awesome in the show. But the problem is that the Punisher is not an emotionally or morally complex guy, and the showrunners wrote him as one. Personally, I'd love a "No Way Home" scenario where this version of Jane's Punisher meets the Daredevil season 2 version of Bernthal's Punisher

Dont get me wrong, Thomas Jane is cool, but Jon Bernthal is the punisher. His acting in the show is hands down some of the best ive ever seen. An incredible show that managed to have plenty of violence, but actually a lot more story to tell.

It's just so weird to me, because I liked the Punisher show very much, but I found Bernthal's acting pretty damn underwhelming in most of his scenes and downright atrocious in some. His constant under his breath mumbling, head-bobbing and eye-shifting almost drove me nuts and have prevented me from watching it again, though I kinda want to by now. I *do respect* the man, no doubt about it. He's hard working, kinda simple but cunning, y'know, street smarts. And I think he's a real genuine guy, salt of the earth. To me Thomas Jane lacked Bernthal's rawness and animalism that helped sell him as Castle, but damn, did Jane nail The Punisher's menacing intelligence, his patience in building up tactics and an actual smart plan to take down Howard Saint's crime syndicate in the 04' movie. I always had trouble seeing Bernthal as intelligent enough to play the perfect Punisher. I'm curious, how did you like Ray Stevenson in the role? I think he was awesome, but didn't like the movie (Warzone) a whole lot.

yeah , Punisher in DareDevil was great. If he would've had just abt 3-4 episodes more instead of lying in a Hospital Bed or Lockup ( Jail scene was awesome), Punisher would've cast a bigger shadow compared to Daredevil. Hope they make "The Punisher" series next just like DC made Flash after Green Arrow..!!

I think that Thomas Jane is a great actor; but Ray Stevenson (Punisher War Zone) actually "looked" and acted the most like the Punisher, followed by a close second of Dolph Lundgren in the original. Thomas Jane is awesome...but just not big or menacing enough.
This 10 minute clip was better than 90 % of the shit in the movies out today.
Despite some poorly written dialogue, scenes that haven't aged well at all, and other cheesy moments; I honestly think it's a solid movie and a throwback to when Marvel IP's started to take off with their film adaptations. Bloody, brutal, raw, and reminiscent of gritty movies from the 70s/80s. I give a 7 if not a 7.5/10 to the OG 2004 Punisher.

Back here in the year 2023. In a world where we lost Ray Stevenson a few weeks back this is the Punisher i most want to revisit. His movie was strange but Jane played a great Castle.

I just finished watching the 04’ Punisher movie with Jane again for the umpteenth time and it made me wish to god he would star as Frank again for a sequel. I started looking up stuff on it and found this short film, and it’s good, but damn. We need another Thomas Jane Punisher!!! The Netflix Punisher is good, no doubt. And I love John’s portrayal of Frank in the show too, but something about Thomas Jane’s performance of Frank is just so damn raw! I love it! Jane isn’t getting any younger so I really hope to see a day where we see him as Frank again.
These superhero movies are so unrealistic. There's no way he could wash a large load for just 50 cents.

I remember I first seen this year's ago after reading an article about how the director of Dredd wanted to make a short film like Dirty Laundry since the world didn't really like Dredd as a full feature film. Glad I read that article, and hope they do make another Dredd film with Karl Urban.
This was fucking great, goes to show that you don't need a big budget like 100 million dollars to do something good.

Hollywood is so incompetent that they couldn't get the Punisher right with three full length films and two seasons of a tv series. This short film does Frank justice in 10 minutes. Let Hollywood burn.

Take note Marvel. That's 4,375,000 views. At $10 a ticket, that's roughly $43 million with no advertising. Now add the Marvel "bump" with its constant marketing strategies and you have a summer blockbuster. And a grateful audience for bringing back Thomas Jane as the Punisher.
this only proves that the story of the Punisher is summed up with 10 min film. spend that time on a more interesting series like The Runaways instead.

Thomas Jane didn't suck. The script needed to step it up but don't blame the actor who actually likes and wants to stay true to the character. smh
BeginnningoftheEnd Never said he did. But I do think there is better. First of all Jane just doesn't look like Frank. Hes not big enough, he's too young, and he doesn't have what combat vets call the "1000 yard stare", which is the mental baggage combat brings.
But my problem with Jane is not him, but his writers. Jane's Punisher is just too talkative. Frank is a man of very few words, and Jane just wont shut up.
One of the best things about Rambo: First Blood was that Rambo in the film actually said very little, and when he did speak it was in short sentences. Rambo didn't need to say anything, but you could tell this was not someone you ever wanted to f**k with. I don't think the character would have worked if he were as talkative
Had they renamed John Rambo to Frank Castle, you'd have had the best interpretation of the Punisher on film.

10 years ago?!? Most honest, brutal portrayal of Frank Castle. Takes just a little bit to light his fuse, then BOOM! This short is easily in my top 3 (the others being Project Arbiter(2014) and Gambit (2020)).
I like this particular movie.
Frank Castle meet Hellboy on a liquor store! Its just classic.
They also worked together years earlier in the sci-fi movie, The Mutant Chronicles.
