he is pretty somewhat involved with all the groups, hence why all the groups talk him about from time to time or give him love shout outs. only rare thing is that they caught it on camera this time. but his reasons for doing so is just to make sure his idol groups are "perfect" and racking in all the $$. A lot of people are very two-faced and very deceptive. And social psychology research has shown that we often cannot catch when someone is deceiving us or not as the signs we look for in deception isn't actually all that telling. Celebrities/public figures are especially good at it since their #1 goal is to gain fans/support. So it's understandable if you can't see it. He clearly "looks" nice and caring here even though his real motives are obviously not.
He's generally always given me bad vibes, but besides that, he is actually known as 1 of the most selfish businessmen in Korea. His #1 priority is profit and his business name. Which is why is honestly didn't surprise me that he didn't have the decency to attend Sulli's funeral because he was more concerned about his future business endeavors. Just effed up, considering he's known Sulli the longest besides some SNSD members, TVXQ, and Suju.

about Sulli's funeral we only know that he didn't go because he was on a business trip. often people forget that a company is made up of hundreds and hundreds of people who work, if everyone canceled commitments and would go their own way, the company would fail and with it many would lose their jobs.
however I don't think he or SM is so greedy:
there are many social projects that have been going on for years. it has the largest number of active and longest-lived artists, and their projects are not poor. he donated shares to the artists. organize parties for society or after big concerts. a 20th anniversary vacation in Hawaii including staff. they often promote Korean culture or in places seen on artists' broadcasts. is dedicated to the development of new technologies, mostly related to entertainment. etc
if you look at the balance sheets at the end of the year, SM is the one who earns the most, but also the one who spends the most.
