- On January 2, 2020, bad weather conditions meant that the Baghdad-bound Sham Wings Airlines flight 501 was delayed for nearly 3 hours.
The plane was carrying 156 passengers, eleven of whom were in business-class. This small group - five Iraqis, five Iranians and a Syrian - had boarded the plane at the last minute before take-off. Most of them had passports with their unofficial names, according to Al Arabiya sources.

To say that he travelled without security measures is obviously incorrect. He had personal security, site security and he travelled on civilian airliners, effectively hiding among civilians and counting on the US reluctance to cause civilian casualties
Yah but that was the case when he used to travel in different territories not in Iran itself. In Iran he used local taxies to travel with no security at all. There are videos of Qassem Soleimani when he visited daughter of a martyr in a hospital. He had no security around him at all neither anywhere in the hospital.

Suleymani was officially invited by the Iraqi government to come to Iraq that night. He was an official figure in Iran. He is not the leader of some kind of rogue group as these biased reports/videos like to picture him.

The missile described isn't the standard hellfire. They are talking about the ninja variant that was designed to fire at soft targets. I wouldn't think they would choose that to strike a vehicle. The standard hellfire will fly upward and come straight down on the target. I remember the first time the US tagged about using the ninja variant. They were trying to get one of the HVTs in Afghanistan I believe. But the guy wouldn't leave his house. He knew the drones were taking out his friends. So he was standing in a window everyday when they used the ninja hellfire with 6 large blades that deploy like long fins around the missile. They put it in the window and basically sliced the guy into pieces, which wouldn't have come from straight above like a standard hellfire.

The description of the missiles used are incorrect. Hellfire missiles equipped with explosive warheads do not have deployable blades. That would be pointless. The Hellfire R9X that has deployable blades has no explosive warhead; it is THIS missile that is intended to limit civilian casualties. It has no explosive warhead and the deployable blades are intended to shred the target it hits. It was Hellfire R9X missiles with deployable blades (and no explosive warheads) that were used to take out Ayman al-Zawahiri. He was targeted in a built up area, and taken out quietly on his own balcony with an R9X variant. The only evidence left was the remnants of the missile's propellant tail. AGM-114 missiles (Hellfire) with explosive warheads were used to take out Soleimani, not R9X missiles.

You can set them to point detonation or proximity fused, And it's basically an Xbox feed, drone camera linked to satellite to some man sat in a compound in a military base probably in Saudi Arabia who guides it to the target. They even have ones that spring massive blades out and cut people in half

They use Infra-red Laser beam to highlight the target...When Laser hits the target it heats that part of target...Then heat seeking Missile will be launched which will be locked to that IR laser targeted spot...so as long as laser is on target, missile will keep on following that target
