Think a lot of us needed to hear your rant at the top. A lot of pent up frustration amongst the supporters. All eyes on Levy indeed. Poch towed the company line because he thought there was loyalty. Jose will start to publicly embarrass Levy in pressers and he deserves it.

I think if we had a striker on we could have easily won that we got into some good positions and just needed a clinical striker to be on the end of some of those chances.

Watford's bench was full of forwards and attacking options, Tottenham's - absolutely no one. At least put Troy Parrott on the bench and throw him on for the last 15 minutes, what have you got to lose? - he'll be 18 in a couple of weeks and plenty of top players have been regulars at that age. Just look at Japhet Tanganga, it's clear that he should have been given a chance a long while ago - unless you throw these players in to the first team you will never know how they will perform.

Thanks Alasdair, as usual I agree. If Levy is not careful I can see players like Dele, Lo Celso and Moura will leave. Levy is expecting too much by playing this team without a striker. I honestly think that Levy deserves about 70% of the criticism he gets. I think Dele played well yesterday and was surprised he was taken off. Son has been poor since the red card, but the moment he gets his confidence back he will be fine.

This squad is bereft of winners or players with winning mentality. The squad is seriously underfunded by years of neglect. When is the last time spurs signed a quality proven player? The idea that kane can't be replaced or challenged is ludicrous. Wages is the problem to attract top players not a shiny new stadium. Levy wants control over everything as demanded by the owner and the club is suffocating with this iron fist attitude. The playing side of the club and control of transfers has been a total failure... having a small squad, not replacing players in key positions sold for a quick profit, wasting bake money, waiting to the last minute to complete or fail with crutial transfers, allowing players to run down contracts, buying cheap options rather than quality players. Despite the clubs increasing wealth this situation goes on. Llorente is a major backward step having sold him for another quick payday. Spurs need a quality signing and pay the going rate this month. Excuses are running out. Money was supposedly available for dymbala a few months but is no longer there? Assuming they really wanted to buy him.. The playing side in the club is in crisis. Fans want trophies, league titles not yte mythical top 4 which just generates a profit which is not reinvested in the squad. Embarrassing

Quality comments Al, felt like I was listening to you voicing my own thoughts. I feel Tottenham situation for at least these past few years can be simulated by a man bobbing in a pool. Only ever doing enough to tread water, occasionally getting dunked under but not enough to drown. We need a proverbial lifejacket thrown by the chairman so at least we can learn to swim so we can at least compete in a race. Until then, we're just bobbing along like sitting ducks!

We always seem to buy "rough diamonds" and hope they fulfill their potential.
However to guarantee Champions league football and to be genuine title contenders we have to buy a few "finished article" players and mix them in with one or two rough diamonds.
I agree about Lo Celso, we may indeed have an Eriksen replacement in the making.

Short term ism. If levy wanted potch out and Mourinho in then it should have been to win trophies, challenge for the Premier league and champions league and reverse the tight fisted approach to investment in quality players.
However at present it now seems like potch, Mourinho is only required to get top 4 using a very limited pool of players without any real experience of winning anything. Llorente is being mentioned as an option for kane even though he is not a striker, just a temporary stop gap until the season end when the club will need to start all over again. This team needs a quality striker who actually scores goals as a support to kane while parrott is given more experience. This would then give us 3 strike options not 1.

Am I the only one who thought that what we needed most against Watford was a ball-winner, and leader in the middle? Yes, we need a striker, but get some central control first. The reason Son filled Kane's boots in the past was because we had a solid spine to work from.

Yes the stadium is great and so is the training ground but how much of that is for capital gains rather than building a squad capable of winning titles ? Not surprised to see so many anti-Levy comments. I remember complaining about him 10 years ago because of our lack of investment when we actually got into the CL for the first time. He hasn't learnt from any mistakes since and here we are 10 years later with no real striker available with Kane injured. Only under Levy's watch could that happen, just like under his watch we could go a whole summer without a single signing. No question that if we don't make appropriate signings and results don't improve then fans are going to start bringing banners out.

Kane has been injured for the last 3 seasons and as a club we have not learned that we need strength in debt.

Football is a results business i.e.Winning trophies! In that respect, Daniel Levy's and ENIC's business decisions are not as good as people will have you believe!!!

I think we're improving, slowly mind you, but I can see some defensive resilience, a bit more control in midfield. As for upfront, we all know the troubles we've got there. So, despite yesterday's result, I am starting to see the green shoots of recovery. Mourinho is slowly stamping his authority on the team. This season is probably a washout, but if we have good transfer windows, this one and in the summer, then next season could be very exciting. COYS.

Lamela should play as a striker/target man. He is relatively tall and can work well in that position. He also scored insane amount of goals when he was young in Argentina.

Spot on Alisdair we won’t get top four without a striker to lead the line. Levy will have to put some money into the team or risk losing tens of millions in Champions League revenue. He will absolutely hate that. You’ve got to speculate to accumulate Dan. It will also have to be someone half decent who can hit the ground running.
Looking forward to watching Aarons live on Wednesday, he looks an outstanding prospect who may be worth a punt in the summer. We won’t get him now though, with Norwich fighting relegation.

I feel for Parrot

I disagree with Aurier’s assessment. Apart from the cross at the last minute, he offered absolutely nothing going forward. 99% of his passing was backwards and struggled against Deulofeu not to mention at first half he had Son covering for him. Also the fact that we’d rather have Tanganga a young and up coming player on the wrong side as supposed to a far more experienced Aurier tells you all you need to know about Aurier.

Levy has to get a striker , he has to get it done.

I think Lo Celso can take over from Eriksen, he was one of our best players again yesterday, along with Lamela. He's a great passer of the ball and isn't afraid to get stuck in to a tackle. I think our best bet for a striker will be a loan move, but who though. We could end up with a situation similar to that of Soldado or Janssen. Someone like Defoe would be good.

I am wondering which position everyone thinks we should buy for. I vote for a back up striker and an attacking left back. A striker who holds the ball up and links for Son and Lucas. A left back that can perform consistently, cross, and track back unlike Aurier. Plus, then we can move Tanganga to his natural RB/CB role.

If Parrott is good enough he will be played, even if it is for half a game. I don't, for a minute, think that JM has any other reason for not playing him than simple ability at this level.
I think part of the reason we didn't get a number 9 in the window is that we've coped without Kane when he has been injured before. Indeed, some "wise heads" have said Son plays better without Kane, so let him lead the line. If he gets a couple on Wednesday this point will be forgotten about (until the next time we drop points!).
Llorente will always be remembered for his"thigh" goal against Citeh, but in every other respect he was a very average striker at the wrong end of his career. However it is only that sort of player who will come to Spurs knowing he will be on the bench as soon as Kane is fit.
There isn't a simple solution to this, there is a case for saying we have enough up front with the likes of Moura, Son, Deli, Eriksen and Lamela, all capable of scoring. Would be nice to see one or more of them step up to the plate.

Poch stated it 18 months ago, Spurs need to be brave. Well we have been nowhere near that. We should have backed him in the summer then we would not be in this mess.Now Jose is in Levy needs to spend, though I don,'t think he will until he gets his number 1 choice in and that is Rodgers. Obvious that sacking Poch was just wrong. He was never the problem. The squad is simply crap lacks all depth and i don't remember when the scouting team got a signing right. This club is so screwed and messed up. And the signing of Mourinho was just like the stupidest thing Levy has ever done. Well besides ruining kane's career with not buying a striker help him.
