Hello New Zealanders. :-D Do you really think they did a good job? I think this table is a total disaster. The processing of the wood is great, they did it well. But finally to hide everything under a thick layer of chemical paint.... Sorry, you can use plastic instead. A great natural product should be protected with natural materials, right? I would always oil such a table... It's definitely a bit of work, but it's worth it. Painted steel feet... sorry, definitely no way. I have a friend who has an oak table top that is 600 years old. The frame underneath is also made of oak but is only 250 years old. Nothing is painted. They oil this table twice a year with linseed oil. This table is an absolute dream! Greetings from Germany! :-D
@@tobiasmuller8734 hey I'm a big fan of German people, smart and fun. I will say I purchased 6 planks of oak last year they were 4m x 150mm x 50mm and it cost me $1000nzd it lasts many lifetimes but pine does not last so long if it's not protected as it's prone to bugs like bora and mold even dry rot so I do think they are doing a good job but I do believe it would look nice with oil too but the cost of pine must be 20% of the cost of oak.

Estas mesas no son malas, pero no son de alta gama, se sabe tanto por el montaje de las patas como por el material de la tabla, ya que el pino no se considera una madera noble.
The “protective “ gear of the workers is unconscionable. Paper masks instead of respirators in a spray room? No eye protection? Ear protection-surely they at least had earplugs. Steel toe boots? Maybe. Generalized dust collection???? The production flow is, as always, a treat in these videos.

They can leave the leg assembly to customer to save some shipping space, so I guess those tables are mainly for local commercial use? Like street restaurants? Which doesn't require long haul or ocean shipping. Would like to invest a real wood furniture factory, yet working there ppl got to deal with dust and epoxies, fits seniors I think
The work is clearly well planned. But I would like to think that task planning involves planting enough trees. In fact, given the speed with which this enterprise is cutting tree trunks at least 100 years old, it would be necessary for every tree felled to be able to replant at least 1000 trees, which will have to be allowed to grow for at least 100 years. Otherwise, the forest will continue to shrink every year. Without massive reforestation, it comes back to the image of the man who saws the branches on which he sits.
I do not doubt your statements, but I would be curious to know the species of the tree that is capable of supplying such large logs in 30 years! However, a precise analysis of the conceentric wood circles presented in the video shows logs much older than 30 years. But I draw your attention to my previous comment, which does not attack New Zealand. My comment was that we have to reforest enough, otherwise we risk reducing the world’s forests more or less quickly.
@@samrad1745 Those logs are rather bigger than our normal harvest, probably around 35 to 40 years old. We're usually harvesting between 25 and early 30 year olds, depending upon where they're grown. As a by the way, the mill I managed was producing around 55 cubic metres of sawn lumber per shift, off a 72 inch Isles Forge headrig and a 120 metre a minute four knee carriage, then through a Sherman edger, with a 36ub resaw handling the odd pieces.
