- On March 4, which was inauguration day until 1937, it will be the 90th anniversary of FDR's first inauguration ceremony. Elected to the executive office, President Roosevelt faced a nation in the midst of the Great Depression. He stood in front of the inauguration crowd and declared "the only thing to fear is fear itself," inspiring a reeling citizenry. Watch this segment of his address where he laid out his policy goals.

It is absolutely wonderful that, while reading Conrad Black's biography of FDR, I can immediately turn to You Tube and hear for myself what Black describes as his 'forceful' and 'melodious' voice.

@@Grimmbros1214 Yes, I remember that & that USA population made a big deal about it + that he was Irish-American. Yet, when current President Biden became president in 2020, 6 decades later, no 1 made a big deal about him being Roman Catholic or Irish-American. However, on being Democrat for both of them in 1960 & 2020 not many made a big deal about that unless you include for 2020, Trump supporters in late 2020 who complained that the election was stolen, then that's a different story.
