I love when people find the missing part of their lives. Genealogy is one avenue for accomplishing that so I'm happy for him.
We couldn't agree more, Angela. We hope you enjoyed watching this segment from Finding Your Roots featuring Tracy Morgan. Thanks for stopping by!
The sooner the better. Several of the guests lament they didn’t know they had wonderful stories, as they grew up with struggles
Genealogy can be so emotional. I have cried many times in my search for family roots, for the hard life they had, and even when you finally find that elusive relative.
He is really feeling it.....good for him
My favorite comedian of all time..... I fkn Love you Tracy Morgan.
Always amazing. Thank you Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Ancestry.

I believe Tracy Morgan Ancestors saved him during the time he had that crash, he's got stong Ancestor History & blessings 😊🙏
That they both could read and write and kept their family together through everything - unbelievable and what an accomplishment! Pride doesn't come into it!! 😍

We're so glad to hear you're loving this series, Cindy! We hope you enjoyed this segment from Tracy Morgan's episode of Finding Your Rights.
Henry Louis Gates, Jr.,
is a national treasure! His books, his activism and this show are solid gold 🌟
Over 500, years later hearing about your people breaks a man down. Beautiful.
I feel like this is what America is missing right now We are forgetting where we came from and what our family members fought for.
❤
One of the many barbaric things we did. There isn't really a nation on earth right now that isn't the result of complete barbarism. It doesn't mean we can't appeal to the better angels of our nature now, though.
“peace at last….peace at last.”

I'm crying along with Tracy. What a profound story. ❤

This was beautiful, so happy for Tracy.
It is always such a gut punch to learn what human beings had to endure at the control of such disgusting events in real time for them.
Very moving to learn about some of Tracy Morgan's lineage and their personal success in the face of disgusting hatred and manipulation.
They are again honored by sharing their experience.
To honor your ancestor is receive blessings. God bless Tracy ❤
So happy for Tracy.
It touched me to see him kiss that book for some reason.
What a good man with a huge heart. All good things to you and yours.
Wonderful. Mr. Morgan, I've always thought you a talented & funny man, but now see you as a spiritual and very whole man! Thank you for all you give:-)

Tracy looks like he’s gotten younger
It’s always an emotional experience. There is something deep inside that gets touched with this kind of knowledge.
Thank you for dropping by and sharing this insight with us, George. ❤️
Our past is powerful in every sense.
Hi Maribelle! Thanks for stopping by. We hope you enjoyed this episode of the show!
It takes guts to look into your ancestry, I was scared to death i'd find war criminals or inbreeding in my family tree. I found neither and for some reason that made me feel different about myself. For the first time in my life I felt like I was from a worthy stock of humans and that I should try to pass my genetics down for future generations.
We're all standing on the shoulders of our past relatives I am personally motivated to stand tall sooooo many sacrifices I'll never know about happened I have a duty to succeed things are going well I push myself daily to keep it up 😎👍🏻
WOW!!! This made me SOO happy to see Tracy share a beautiful moment in time🙏🏽
Much luv&respect from Hawaii🤙🏽

That is such an emotional revelation
Tracy Mogan’s episode was so special . He is so I tuned to his ancestors . He acknowledges his deep spiritual connection to them and he knows he carries the Love , Blessings and Guidance with him . Some of know that connection and acknowledge that are ancestors are “ just on the other side “ waiting to assist us . More people should call out to them ❤️❤️❤️
My ppl were free from Halifax Virginia i ended up finding out that my ppl were misclassified as African American and really were Cherokee
Cherokee owned slaves also
Henry Louis Gates says almost all black people who think they are 'Cherokee' are usually black, sometimes mixed with slave-master. Have you done a DNA test and found Cherokee blood?
@@CharlieBrown0714 yes I’m actually going through the slave schedules this weekend and I noticed so far that lots black ppl owned slaves and their were lots of yt slaves
@@CharlieBrown0714not in Virginia. The Cherokee tribe did not own slaves in Virginia.
Everytime I see Tracy Morgan I can’t help but hear Jay Mohr’s what’s up Jay Mohr you wanna get nice😂spot on impression
That was so deep! I was feeling all the feeling with him!!
Bless his heart
It would've been interesting to find out how Tracy's ancestors were in a marriage where one was a slave and one was free.
I was thinking the same thing.
there was likely a time where they were separated and were able to rejoin. You hear their ages they were up in age. Probably why they were so tight nit
I had the same discovery with my family, but I had both a free great , Great grandmother and father from 1860
This one’s a tearjerker for sure.
Undoubtedly. Thanks for watching! We are glad to see that it moved others, too.
This unique Show is beyond incredible on so many facets because not only is it intriguing, informative, innovative, & entertaining, it’s one of the best places to see how history was actually being lived & how previous actions affect many lives & current & future generations going forward!! Thank you for creating this program👍🤗🙌🙌!

What a lovely thing to learn.😘📖
I read Dr. Gates Jr. When i was in grad school and always found him fascinating. To see where he has gone with his knowledge and talents, giving prople sense of identity and meaning even beyond his own written word - is wonderful.
Very well said, Kyle! Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and experiences. We hope you enjoyed this Finding Your Roots segment!
@@AncestryUS I would give an arm to work for him... I'm a serious genealogist, too. 🙂
What a beautiful episode!
As addressed at the end, The most important thing is that black American families were stronger as a unit. There was no pervasive stereotypical culture of growing up in single parent households as it is today. Not a bunch of "baby daddies" and "baby mommas" who became encouraged by government politicians to either abort their children or struggle on welfare payouts. This is a new plantation to keep blacks segregated and politically dependent.
He`s always been my favorite!!! Love him
I love Tracy Morgan!
That is fantastic to hear, Vincenze! We love to hear you are enjoying this episode of the show so much!
Beautiful ❤❤❤

I love you Tracy ❤✊🏾
I need this to stream on some bodies streaming app
My hubby has to do this😢🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
They told me i had black roots and kicked me out of the dentists office.
I wonder if their child would've been listed as "White", since both parents were "Half White"?
Ask Zoe Kravitz that same question.
@@ene1818 Why? I'm talking about back then, which was several hundred years ago! In the Caribbean people were identified as White or Mestee!
Nope. According to the One drop rule. They are all black
@@Taina2024In American you can vin pass for white and still be labeled as black. It’s very different from the Carribean and outah America. Blacks and natives had blood quantum’s that gave privileges and restrictions. One drop of black blood is you are black. A quart native means your native.
God bless you always amen 🙏 my beloved brother, that was amazing and I am very happy for you and you whole family amen 🙏 Jesus Christ love you amen 🙏 ♥️
It's so crazy that Tracy had third grade grandparents.
I have no idea who my ancestors were, non...maybe one day.
Hi, Joe. Thanks for your comment. We're sorry to hear that you don't have any of your families information. Have you had a DNA test done? We're happy to give you some tips that can be of help to you. Please read the article and let me know if you have any questions.

I think we all did a little fist shake hearing they stayed together as a family. Went through hellfire and the darkest of times and still found the strength to come through it and stay together. I hope all the years they spent after were filled with joy
His ancestors classification as “mulatto” in Virginia meant that they were American Indians, especially with the male ancestor being free. Most American indians married other American Indians.
I may be wrong, but I think the term was used for people with mixed white and African anscestry *and* for people with Native and African anscestry. The Tax and Representation laws were absolutely insanely complicated with regards to race.
They didn't tell the whole story. Wiley Wharton was living with a White family and was listedbas a Carpenter. The head of house, Wharton John 31 b. 1829 may have been a half brother.
Mullatto was usually code word for native American
Mullatto is mixed
Mulatto mean mixed race people
Well, considering that its Tracy im sure we found out that Ernest Borgnine or Chalton Heston was his dad.. 😅
He was free because he was on one of the sellers selling his own people
💕💕💕
AMEN AMEN AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Hi Cynthia, thanks for watching. We are glad to see that you enjoyed this video!
It's Tracey Mooourgun yo!

He looks kind of like an old west undertaker in the thumbnail.
How can I watch this show in Australia ???
Hi Franca and thank you for reaching out to us. We're afraid this show is only aired in US at this moment in time and are sorry for any disappointment this might cause. We're happy to forward your interest to the appropriate team.
@@AncestryUS hopefully 🤞
Have a great evening. 😊
I love Tracy and picture him being funy but to see him crying just because his ancestor was free is insane. It should have been that way to begin with.
We related 😂
Louis Farrakhan learns his truth
That's dope..
Finally he was serious about something of importance to him. .
Thank goodness he was not drunk or high during this segment.
He probably was, just not to *that* level.
I was hoping he was gonna be related to Sam Walton
😢❤❤❤❤
