  • Waves had some of the most unique cinematography of 2019, using a multitude of aspect ratios, abstract movement and bold colours made for one of the most visually striking films in recent memory.
In today's video, I look at how Trey Edward Shults and Drew Daniel's shot Waves, breaking down their use of movement, why Shults decided to use many different aspect ratios and looking at their use of bold colours. I'll also break down the film quickly, and look at the equipment Daniels used to achieve the memorable look.

      Thanks!
I watched it for the first time recently and was absorbed by Young's use of darkness.
I'll add it to the list!

@@AngusDaviesDP If you like darkness I recommend watching the film Burning. Not sure if you're into foreign films, it's a Korean movie that id feel you'd love. Definitely has a slow start, the 3 hour movie could have definitely been cut down a bit, but if your patient with it you'll come out with so many great questions and thoughts!

      Thanks for the rec!
I'm guessing it's the one with Steven Yeun? Looks really good
I pretty much everything anyway so 3+ hours isn't a stretch.
