Too black: discriminated
Too white: discriminated
Wth is wrong with humans
I know right?!
Thereโs lots of shitty people. Though thereโs a lot of good people, I would say more good than bad. No matter who you are youโve been discriminated against in one way or another, donโt live as a victim.
Simpler version: too different: discriminated.
Some people are just weird like that
gosh, yes that's exhausting.
Iโm glad you brought up the topic of the black community and albinism. Itโs heartbreakingly common that black people reject those with albinism because they are โnot blackโ (literally lacking melanin) but albinism isnโt a race, identity, or ethnic background and black people come in all shades.
Exactly, it just proves how much of a social construct race is.
yeah
This needs more likes
Iโm of mixed race black and white. Even though that Iโd say that treatment didnโt happen as often as someone with Albinism. There is definitely a racial double standard there even if your mixed ethnicity. Where at times Iโm not accepted on either side. I could never understand fully what the individuals in the interview went through. But I can in a way somewhat empathize with that loneliness, cause if your of mixed ethnicity and you donโt look like either one race, how one can be alienated.
@SantaNotKnown But no one said that? It's a fact that black people with albinism face discrimination in their own communities and that is an issue that should be addressed. Black people with albinism are still black and deserve to welcome in their own communities.

Please do this!!
Yes please. We need to lift the stigma of baldness, especially bald women.
My sister has albinism and she got bullied a lot in school. Not for her color or eye sight but for the way her eyes looked. When you lack pigment in the eyes then they move back and forth. Please educate children and others around you about genetic conditions like albinism so they donโt offend/bully people who are different.
Speaking of educating, Iโm really not sure pigment level in your eyes makes your eyes move back and forth?
yeah i have severe vision loss and i also get bullied for many reasons cause i have autism and a white cane and feeding tube (NG tube so i have a tube going down my nostril), but one reason is i have nystagmus (uncontrollable jerking motions of the eyes) and strabismus (crossed eyes), and i have severe amblyopia (lazy eye) that makes my left eyelid really droopy so it makes my eyes look even weirder, i really hope your sister is in a kinder environment now and yes i also think kids should be educated more on genetic conditions, and medical conditions in general

Agreed but in the end, it's the person individually who styles themself. Nobody is inherently ugly because it is subjective and requires self-care to look healthy and fresh.
I remember when I became a girl scout I made friends with this albino girl. At a such young age it was the first time I have ever seen an albino person or knew about albinism. The only thoughts that came into my mind "she's so beautiful" and I always told her "you're a lord of the rings elf princess. Your son has such a wonderful personality! I am sure you are proud of him โบ๏ธโค๏ธ
As someone with albinism - thank you so much for doing this video! The people in it were lovely and covered some great topics. One thing I will say to commenters w/out albinism: I know you truly mean well, but saying things like 'albinos are so pretty/ethereal/fascinating' etc can actually feel just as dehumanising as mean comments. We're just people, vibing!
Agreed!! As someone with albinism I hate being called a goddess and stuff like that. It feels weird.
I used to get bullied for my albinism in school so for a few years (end of elementary, beginning of middle school) I convinced people I was part vampire just so they would leave me alone ๐ the reddish eyes definitely helped my case there.
Now I just joke about it a lot
Basically what I'm tryna say is, if you don't have albinism and you "joke" it can be boarder line bullying. So just because I joke about my condition doesn't mean you can.
Anyway, greetings my cousins. It's really cool seeing all the people w albinism come out of the woodworks. I've never met another PWA face to face to random encounters online are my favorite thing
I mean, I think it's cool and in some ways attractive, but it's just another mutation. And I don't mean that derogatorily. Humans are full of mutations and irregularities that aren't bad, they just ARE. Just because you vary from what the "intended" biological template should be does not make you lesser. I have the big boy Aspergers/Autism. I am not lesser, nor am I what humans are "intended" to be. I just am. That is how I look at these kinds of things, including sexuality and gender. Strictly speaking, homosexuality and transgender is not what is intended with our species. It is not "bad", but it is not "good" either. It just "is". The negativity surrounding them is cultural, because the traits themselves are by default neutral (especially in an advanced society where albinism, autism, paraplegia, or many other conditions are not death-sentences anymore. Any inherent difficulty that naturally comes with them can be addressed and neutralized. So they just "are". That's my philosophy on it.

Here to add to the comments that Semme is fine, and shocked that he is single.
id like peoples thoughts on this: im a straight guy but i can see hes not "ugly". but most of what i see in the comments are (mostly) girls saying stuff like this. But isnt that kinda weird? if we were to flip the roles here and there was an attractive girl in the video and guys were like "wow she is really hot. how is she single?" people would find that creepy and weird. So why is it ok right now? am I totally wrong here? im asking out of curiosity because im not sure if im seeing a double standard here or not
@@pvic6959 the only answer I have for your question if Iโm reading it correctly is toxic masculinity. Itโs not secret that women are allowed to comment on other women appearance without being gay but men canโt. There is a huge double standard that I find really dumb. Itโs sad really. If men donโt clarify theyโre straight everyone would be like โthatโs gayโ
@@ineedsomrmilk thats so true as well. I guess thats why I felt the need to specify my straightness lol. But I thin I didnt make my question clear. I was talking about the disparity between girls "thirsting" over guys being ok but if guys "thirst" over girls, the guys are gross, creeps, etc. Im not sure if thats how it really is though. But i have seen comment threads where guys are torn apart by others for calling a girl in a video attractive and stuff like that. I definitely relate to Semi saying that, โIโm no oneโs type.โ I am biracial, but also, I have a rare skin disease, and when I was 13, doctors did a procedure to me that they no longer do. watching the part about the substitute teacher reminded me of my literature teacher in high school. i always got 25% more time for exams because of my low vision, and no teacher ever had a problem with it until i got that one teacher in high school who just took my paper away when the regular time was over. i argued with him that i get more time because of my visual impairment, but he just shrugged and took the paper away anyway. i ended up crying uncontrollably and going home early, telling my parents. my dad went to school the next day to talk to the principle about it, and i was told the principle had a talk with the teacher but i still got a worse grade than usual because i couldn't finish my essay, and the teacher was incredibly hostile towards me afterwards. mind you, i was the only child with a disability in the whole school, and i was always a rather shy kid so i never disturbed class either or anything, and my grades were good. my parents are immigrants, and usually i would have had darker skin if i didn't have albinism. this teacher on his first day had told us he was transferred from another school where there was a high percentage of immigrant kids who were very hard to deal with. throughout the two years he was my teacher, i noticed the two people in class he seemed to like least were me and this other girl whose parents were also immigrants (the rest of the students were german). so i think he was prejudiced or xenophobic, and maybe he had a bad experience before, but up to this day i cannot understand how a teacher can have one single kid with a disability in all his classes at school and then choose to bully this person because of their heritage, when i think i as a teacher would like to make sure that this one kid with a disability was not having any trouble keeping up with the "normal" kids.
and i was so shy i could never stand up to him like i maybe should've. i went from loving literature class to absolutely loathing it because of him, and my grades became significantly worse because he never seemed to like my essays like the previous teachers had. idk if anyone will read this: but if you're a teacher or think about becoming one, and you have a kid with a disability in class: don't be an asshole to them for no reason. some things are already harder for us than for other people, and sometimes bullying from other students can make it worse. it would be nice if we could at least count on our teachers to support us.
I can't believe teachers would do that. Why become a teacher if you don't care about all of your pupils. Sorry to hear your story ๐ญ but than again they Germans so as a Pole i don't think highly of them. Bullying children is not the worst they did after all.
@@katek7039 that's in the past though. I'm every single country you will meet horrible people. They are everywhere.
Very sorry to hear that. I hope you do well in life and be happy.
man, that must've been hard, hope you will have a happy life:>
thanks to everyone for your kind words. i should probably make it clear that my intention wasn't to bash on a country or anything like that, especially since i myself was born in germany and love living here, though i fully understand why others might still have a bad image of the country because of its past. i originally didn't want to mention the country at all but then at that time couldn't think of the opposite word to "immigrants". would you say indigenous people? wasn't sure so i didn't use it. i should also add that most of my teachers were amazing, but sadly one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel. this teacher's attitude towards me really tore at my self-confidence, and for years, even after finishing high school, i wondered why he treated me that way.
it really would've been another thing if i'd had issues with most of my teachers, cause then i would've known that i was the problem. when you feel like you did nothing to warrant such hostility, it makes you all the more confused, especially when the teacher clearly sees your disability and you'd expect them to at least somewhat care that they have a student in class who can only see 10% of what the rest of the students can see (my vision is about 10% which i heard is common for people with albinism, and i always used a monocular like one of the guests in the video).
that's not me trying to make myself the victim but i just can't deny that it was harder for me to see/read everything like the others, and i know for a fact that trying to act like you don't have this disability and that you're just like the other kids only makes you depressed in the end because as much as you try to act like "oh my vision isn't THAT bad", you constantly realize it IS,, so it's best to embrace the fact that you often need help :)
i thought about this teacher's motives long and hard for years and sadly can only link it to xenophobia since - like i said - i didn't even have the guts to ever properly stand up to him like i should have. i then later heard that my brother's friend, who is black and always had amazing grades in school, especially in literature, failed his class because of this teacher and couldn't graduate in the same year my brother did. my brother says his friend always stood his ground to the teachers, and maybe this teacher hated that and that's why he gave him horrible grades. in literature class where we only wrote essays it was usually easier for teachers to grade essays however they wanted to, since it was not like a math test where the person got the question right or wrong.
so overall, i just wanted to share my experience with a horrible teacher who made me feel like crap about myself for years and hope others don't have to experience the same thing. i'm okay now btw and will graduate university this march (took me a bit longer than other students bc of my low vision but i'm going to have a master's degree in computer science soon, so i'm happy and proud of myself :) ) and hope others with albinism and low vision also reach a point in life where they can be proud of themselves โค
All of these people are so amazing. Each of their stories are so unique and I admire them for sharing this.

Can you do "I spent a Day with Asthmatic People" because it has a big stereotype and people just think we're lazy and wheeze after any activity
And the spectrum asthma comes in. I have exercise induced asthma and went through that garbage in high school. I'd have to bring my inhaler to P.E. and pushed myself harder because of garbage teachers said minimizing my medical diagnosis. Had a few really bad asthma attacks because if it, and even that wasn't enough to convince their high and mighty opinion of, "you're being a drama queen and faking it, it's not that bad." ๐
I'd like to see that for sure and can understand. My little brother passed away of asthma at 24 and there's so many ignorantass people out there thinking it's not big deal.๐
I know and have known a lot of people with asthma in my life and not all cases are the same.
Some only needed a brief puff on occasion whereas others suffered severe athsma attacks all throughout spring.
It's rather annoying that athsma in media is only used with the typical nerd/overweight kid.
I had a classmate girl who claimed to have asthma. But at the same time, she calmly did P.E.
I really want a video on this topic to understand if my classmate actually has asthma.
Yo.. asthma is so Fucking painful... One time I was having an asthma attack and it felt like An elephant sitting in ur chest... But thanks god I have a inhaler
