This is the first film I've seen Akwafina in which I feel like it really suits her. In Ocean's 8, Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon she was just played the same character who seemed out of place in all of them. Here she actually feels like a character of the story who's grown up in this world and really is friends with Shaun.
FYI, if you haven't seen The Farewell, you should. She was so good in that film.

Me too. I thought it was a series (for whatever reason) and was all like 'ugh. I'll just watch this when I got really nothing else.' Luckily I didn't wait that long, because I LOVE this movie. The fighting is one of the best and prettiest I have ever seen. The scenes are beautiful, the story is halfway solid, and the characters are almost all relatable and funny.
I knew it would be good! But I didn’t expect my mind to be blown. And seeing the movie at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Labor Day weekend (an unusual time of year to release a masterpiece) made the experience something else.
I rewatched this movie for the 20th time last night and I never get tired of it
