Mid 20s to early 30s is not an age for retirement. 😂 If I'm 32 years old, and married and I want to go to a damn club, my relationship status shouldn't dictate my decision to do so. I'm grown. And as my husband, he should trust me. Distrust others all you want, it takes two to tango so ultimately its up to her. Let's not act like being married means you have to stop being the adult you are. 🤷🏽♀️

Oh my god I just fell even deeper in love with the guy in the Hawaiian shirt. When he said he wouldn’t marry a foreigner because of what their child would undergo, it was like a breath of fresh air. Often people want mixed babies because of stereotypes without any regard for what the child will inevitably undergo. I’m half Korean half white myself and the racism from both sides is very detrimental and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.
Not the case in certain countries like Brasil. Although my home country is Argentina I have been to Brasil and there’s Japanese-Brasilians. Where are you from?

oh course it's going to be superficial, it's an ideal type. If you look up the meaning of ideal, the meaning will be similar to one's conception to what is perfect and yeah no one is probably perfect, it's an ideal type, you're looking at that one set of attributes and discarding the rest. And since it's an ideal type, they're not saying they'll only date these kind of people.

If you look up something like "Korea hardships of being a mixed child", there's a lot of news about it, theres even a couple that left Korea cause they don't want their mixed child to be in harms way. It's not that he is racist, it's that other people is racist and if you're saying he is racist cause he doesn't date a foreign then it might be the mixed child reason, closed mindedness or they're just not his foreign. Racist means that he is showing discrimination where as he is not. Don't use such a term that freely and carelessly without any valid reasoning or evidence.
@Youna McGrath But do you live in Korea? I have met many, many people in Korea (I'm a Korean-American who was born and raised in NYC) and many mixed children do suffer some type of bullying or exclusion from the Korean society. There are Hello Counselor episodes where people come out and talk about the racist treatment they have received because they were either of another non East-Asian race, or mixed. I think that this is why the guy said that he would be thinking of the child in the case of dating a foreigner and possibly having children with them.
The same goes for me. Even though I'm Korean, and I read, write, and speak Korean fluently, I don't think I would be able to have a good relationship with someone from Korea. Korea is too conservative at the moment, and I sometimes have fights with my parents or the rest of my family in Korea about what I believe is right. For example, all of them are against the LGBTQ+ community and their rights. Most of Korea is like this - Koreans are also very soft-spoken about sexual harrassment and patriarchy is still widely accepted. I don't think I would be able to have a relationship with someone who thinks similarly.
Beyond this though, simple language barriers exist. I'm fluent enough in Korean at a high school level (I'm fourteen), and that's very, very advanced for someone living in the US. However, I'm not fluent enough to talk politics, or world problems, with someone entirely in Korean. As an academic seeker, I would be very, very frustrated with myself and my partner if I couldn't get my ideas across the way I wanted, and eventually, I believe the cultural differences would drive us apart.
There's no simple solution to any of these racial problems in Korea, but I do get where this guy was coming from when he said he'd be worried for his mixed child. He was not being racist when he said that. Racism is the belief that a race is superior to another simply because of race. What he was talking about was the fact that the mixed child would have a hard time in Korea as a mixed child, not that Koreans were superior to another race.

I like the idea of the level of respect in the relationship. You see many international couples who work through the differences which is nice.. like one of your interviewers stated learning in any language is fun and you won't get bored its to find the few who would love this challenge. The other is many woman are independent and older and sometimes would like a partner to have fun and do not focus on age. Have you come across many in your interviews also? A worry that many foreigners read in articles is domestic violence and the numbers are very high there versus korean women. But sometimes people misunderstand. I've been a K-pop/K-drama fan for almost four years now, and about a year ago started dating my boyfriend. He's from China, and so many people asked me if I only dated him because he was Asian or because of my obsession with Kpop. It was really frustrating to be accused of being so shallow.
