With a 250 shot, you should most definitely feel a HUGE difference. Kind of like adding another engines worth of power
Ramping in nitros feels more like a lazy turbo. It doesn't "hit" hard like full shot. It's 250 at the peak power. Which would be hard to notice doing street tunes.
A progressive 250 shot should pin you into the seats either way although it WOULD feel more like a n/a, linear powerband or I suppose like a vortec s/c. It would be super fun to spray regardless.
The good thing with having the hi comp is the fact that it will likely provide the full 250 to the wheels

Your going to want to move those power wires. At high rpm the energy from the spark plug wires will couple into those and give your EFI computer fits.

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to explain the simple things for guys like me that love cars but don't work on them for a living, or even as a hobby. Stuff like why they mounted the engine to the frame and the pros and cons, plus the high compression incompatibility with forced air such as turbo or super charger. Keeps it real...

Those heads don't have great quench for forced induction, but honestly if the bottom end was solid, and he was running ethanol or race gas, then he should have done it anyway

I don’t know much about nitrous but I think it’s to avoid pre detonation with boost
The reason that they have to retard timing is to keep it from detonation. But with the nitrous he will still be adding power. So with his 200 shot of spray he will be adding 200 horse power throughout the entire power band. Just because you dont have as much timing doesn't mean you're sacrificing horse power.
@Wyatt Altizer or it could get really hot and melt a piston or the rings and then the engine would have such bad scoring it would be unsaveable without resleaving the block which is a pain in the ass and a half
With Nitrous, it's not if you are going to melt a piston, it's when you will. Also you have to retard the timing on nitrous just like you do on boost. I believe it is something like 2 degrees for every 50hp of nitrous. If he runs full timing and sprays a 250 shot that motor will be gone. Also blowing the trans is not really much of a concern as blowing the torque converter. Most logical people weld on a balloon plate to keep the converter from swelling and separating. With a good tune you can make anything work. Sorry with a 407. Never heard that. ( 406 and 409 I have). 450whp on 13.5:1 doesn't seem right either. I would put and actual compression gauge on the motor to see what it really is. Scope the spark plug holes and see if the pistons are flat top or domed. I would never tske someone's word about what an engine is unless it had a build sheet with it from the builder themselves. We will see what happens.
I love your mindset on this build to not ruin this car, but to revert what you did if you wanted to and the test drive after new fuel and nos upgrades was awesome with the flames!

1) put a real air cleaner on there
2) put the headers back where they belong
3) what are your cam and converter specs?
3k stall on the converter. I posted the specs on the last video. Car has a lot done to it, trans is built.
they definitely made it slower than it should be, they need a nitrous controller for one, they probably took all the timing out of it making it gutless, also sounded like he was shifting it at 4500prm and I agree about the dinky ass air cleaner they have on there, take that elbow shit off. A 13:1 406 with AFR heads and any decent cam should make north of 500hp easily. Car probably doesn't have enough converter but should still run way harder than that.

So glad you want the nitrous route. I love the stuff ,yeah turbo stuff is fun and I love that too.
But nitrous is where it's at bang for buck on a budget for the weekend drag race type guy or gal.

Just an idea. Here in the Caribbean we use water/methanol injection to address detonation with our turbo application on high compression. Alcohol works excellent also. Helped build an LS3. It had 13:1 compression, APR studs, 0.8 lift cams and forged pistons. That was two years ago and it still pulls 10 sec on the quarter.

I just put Kooks long tubes on my 02, I made sure to change the plugs while the manifolds were off. Wasn't too bad then.

Did you add a pressure regulator to your nitrous system or is the Holley sniper EFI system compensating for it? Those carb kits usually want 6PSI so if you run the ~60PSI from the EFI kit it'll run run pig rich. And if you do more test runs with a bottle between someones legs, or mount a bottle upright, put the bottle outlet facing the rear of the car so that the pickup tube stays submerged in fluid.
