    • @almostJDM
      @almostJDM 4 년 전 +6

      yeah they are in the same spots where mishimoto put them only in the tops of the end caps instead of one side of them, he will be good, if not then they never would of been good in the first place

    • @98LSxS10
      @98LSxS10 4 년 전 +5

      @@almostJDM I was thinking tho, the radiator is also mounted sides from the original position. So instead of coolant coming in the bottom and out the top, its coming in the middle and out the top. The lower half of the radiator would not have proper flow. I may be wrong. I think if the radiator was mounted the way it was intended to be by mishimoto then you would be 100% right

  • @Hunman2k
    @Hunman2k 4 년 전 +35

    Maybe I'm wrong, but on those small radiators you won't get waterflow through the core, because the water will seek the path of least resistance and with your layout it's from the inlet on the top, straight to the outlet. You could weld in a barrierplate between the inlet and outlet to force the waterflow through the radiator.

    • @davidjameswales

    • @cam872k3
      @cam872k3 4 년 전 +4

      I first thought the same thing, but rewatched the video, and they came that way from mishimoto, so they must be internally blocked, but usually you can see where they welded the internal plate, they must've polished the hot spots out if they did weld in an internal block off.

I know that if you are welding, small metal pieces can fly away and they are really hot, and if they land on plastic or glass they can leave small deep hole that can damage your headlights and those cannot be fix. My tips from heat exchanger experience; always have the mounts on the header tank, the sides aren’t strong enough. Don’t weld close to the tubes on the header plate, you’ll upset the tube to header plate braze. Put the ports on opposite corners for best flow. Sucking fans pull more air and use les power to do it. & With fan-only rads, (no natural flow) build a 2” deep fan box so air go move around as it pleases:D

    Use a vac-n-fill to fill the cooling system. It pulls a vacuum on the system and sucks the fluid in, reducing your chances of getting air trapped in the system. It simplifies the process because you won't spend hours trying to bleed air from your radiators and lines. It'll also let you know if you have any leaks before you fill it with fluid because it won't pull as much vacuum on the system.
