    the car is not in limp mode. its just reducing power because of your DSC, and if the dsc is not working you will have 3 lights on: ABS, DSC, BRAKE. only from this error. you have to check again the speed sensor or with diagnose. in the worst case abs pump is bad, but first you have to bleed the brakes using INPA

    Hi Chris. Ive seen this issue before. I repair a lot of z4's where these lights pop up after tie rod ends are changed. The dsc and steering controls are all wired through the abs module in the same unit and the torque sensor on the column sees unequal, well,....torque when turning left compared to right because of alignment issues, so lights up everything!
    One alignment later and steering recentred to zero degrees and the lights will go off.
    Amazing channel by the way. Love it.

      VolV8 And? The whole car is impractical. Those fender mount mirrors look dope, they really made the fairlady stand out. They are no more ineffective and impractical as no mirrors and wait really isn’t an issue since he doesn’t have a lot of other parts and he has more weight in excess wiring than mirrors would be. Aero is also not really a concern if he’s rocking it with no hood.

  • @eformance
    @eformance 5 년 전 +28

    I have a feeling that no matter what you do, traction control is going to be pissed about the mirrored signals. IOW, if you mirror the front/back, TCS will not work because it'll think the front and rear wheels are going the same speed always. It might be better to mirror the rear sensors to the front, because then the wheel speed matches the driveline speed. They might be using the wheel sensors as "transmission output speed indicator", which is often used to detect if the trans is slipping and to control limp mode and shift line pressure.

    For reduced power, it will let you rev but is putting it in a “safe” operation condition and typically 30% or more power reduction. Similar symptoms as to when your water pump goes out on a N54 (335i etc).

    Initialise the tyre pressure monitor from the iDrive menu, it uses measured wheel speed to set a baseline rolling diameter. Also initialise the tilt sensor in the gearbox (like the steering sensor) the DSC being unhappy cant be helping things. Both V10's having engine fault codes is sad times :(

    Kevin from New Zealand here. have watched this build with amazement. Great choice of body and motor. Only comment on the body is remove those ugly front wide bodies or at least fill in that horrible cut out in them. Please put the bonnet on looks like a cheap hot rod without, instead of a cool Q car. Engine wise I think the M3 V8 would have been a better choice. Smooth, light reliable power. A mate of mine has one in an e30. Brilliant motor and has had no problems.

    Speaking as a R53 mini owner, when one of my wheel sensors goes out, I get the “trio of lights” which include air pressure, abs and stability control. I know that the inpa package has a screen that will show you the wheel speed sensor info live which is helpful in determining which one is out or is being flaky. The mini/bmw speed sensors can be fragile, so they’re an easy culprit for at least three errors, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were behind others on a more complex car. Also, just a thought, there may be a way to set the front/rear circumferences independently in the ecu. It might be worth a look. It’s amazing how many parameters you can tweak in those ecus. I have heard on the mini you can adjust the wheel circumference setting so your speedo reads correctly.

    Hi Chris . Great work on getting this done, I'm unsure it this will help but I couldn't help notice the other warning lights in the dash, Could your problems be related to the seat belt warning. might be worth locating this loom and bridging these wires to the Belt sensors . May also be worth disabling the tyre pressure warning system . I'm unsure if you'll be able to deactivate the airbag system but all of these "Safety" system may be effected engine performance. These wouldn't create error codes as they have clearly visible warning lights. Best of Luck

    BMWs did come with staggered wheel setups. My E46 originally came with 205s all around but when I upgraded to style 68s, I went to 225s in the front and 245s in the rear

    • @samryder667
      @samryder667 5 년 전

      True definition of staggering is having different width tires front to rear such as 225 etc, a lot of BM's come with wider rears. Chris is referring to a different rolling radius when he says staggering, this can play havoc with DSC and ABS modules because effectively the wheels are turning at different speeds.
