I’m not hating or anything but the positioning of the wing seems off to me it’s perfectly centered but i feel it would look way better if the swan neck was pushed back further to the end of the trunk but personal preference ig
You're correct. The wing should hang off the rear a bit. That's almost the entire point of a swan neck wing.

I had the same issue with the wing on my 350Z. I agree for some reason I feel its only right that every massive wing should be the furthest back point of the car. I had to adapt Big country labs brackets to fit my APR wing because of that problem.
When he put the wing on I was like no it definitely should be back more but the wing the big wing it looks Dukie it blatantly sucks the small wing is all right that’s good take the wings off wings sucks sucks ass

you can open a trunk manually with the key, the lock is in front of passenger seat under floor mat, it sounds weird but it is there check it out
I work at a robotics lab and we have two primary types of 3D printers we use. The Ultamaker 3 Extended has unmatched quality and reliability versus our other printers, but is very expensive($4kish). The FlashForge Creator Pro is significantly cheaper and is reliable as long as you don't mind dialing in the temperatures and speeds that vary between environmental conditions. But I have my labs personal setting that could give you a head start in that process.
Filament is a big part in the printers reliability and quality. I personally recommend Hatchbox Filaments. They are very consistent and good quality. I recommend ABS Filament since it doesn't absorb water from the atmosphere like PLA, but if you need flexible parts TPE is useful.
Fusion 360 is an adequate modeling software and is free to hobbyists(not sure if there are any complications there), but I tend to use Solidworks for modeling parts and making STL files.
Feel free to contact me for more information and tips I have acquired from running and maintaining these printers.
Also take a look at the Formlabs printers...we have a couple in the shop. $4k really isn't 'expensive' in the 3D printing world. Just depends on what kind of quality you are looking for, materials, and build size. You can easily get into the $200K++ range.
buying the printer is the easy part. the real work is doing the 3d mesh to print out.

This build is actually on another level, I’m pleased you got this car for the project as she is turning out to be a beauty! Personally also I’d stick with this Black Konig wheels on they compliment the car so well and also please paint those side window panels white they stick out like a sore thumb in black!
the bootlid lip spoiler is upside down. it has a cutout in the centre of it to allow factory bootlid badge
No thats to accommodate the center pillar of the original spoiler.
after waiting for a bit i binge watched all your GTR builds. Cant wait to see the end. Working on getting my 1st copart purchase soon too!

I like this build, but I would advise not grinding or welding so close to the car, the red hot spark can stick to the paint and even damage the glass.
Autoshine Cars Or worse, light the car on fire. A buddy of mine lost his car a couple of years ago to that. Luckily it was in the driveway and not his garage.
I saw a car once that had steel shavings in-bedded in the glass from bad bodyshop practices..blew my mind, had no idea that was possible and basically impossible to get rid of.
@@ryanbertoldi8303 yep, we had an apprentice when I worked in the garage wreck the whole side of a focus grinding next to it.
The grinding sticks to the paint then rusts and leaves brown spots everywhere

It's his car but I do agree it doesn't really look that good on a GTR the GTR doesn't really need a ginormous wing on the back it was not designed to really have a big wing lol
Hey Chris! I actually recently 3D printed a bracket for the same purpose for my FJ Cruiser! Let me know if you want the file; it's not the same heated seat switch but could at least get you started there. I can send you some pics of mine as well- I sanded the bezel after printing then plastidipped it black and it looks factory. I used a makerbot replicator 2 and did one test print to test tolerances so plan on that too. But its an incredibly satisfying snap fit now. Good Luck!

Not a big fan of the wing but with the wide body it works. I’d say paint the smaller trunk lip spoiler you installed white to match the car. Def. not knocking anything at this point, waiting to see the finished project. Love the build - keep wrenching 🤙🏻

Why is the spoiler so far forward? The whole idea is to get it as far back as possible into cleaner air. Or, I mean, just wing it I guess, no pun intended.

Yeah, wonder how bad the rest of the paint is. White is forgiving on camera. That roof looks as bad as the FD.

I would be more worried about all that grinding dust on the roof. When he washes that it will be like using a scourer on the roof.

Move the wing back and weld in support beams in an X shape.
wrong, its a swan nexk, top mounted wing.
that means the storks that the plane of the wing is mounted to, connects onto the top of the wing rather than underneath. thats because wings creat downforce from the underside, not the upper side (its all about air pressure and other complex stuff)
this means that the wing sits behind those mounting storks/struts, whatever you wanna call them.
so if you mounted an normal wind on that car and placed it in the same place (not the mounts, the actual plane of the wing) the mounts for the normal one would sit much further back.
so basically, its not wrong, its fine. actually look up what kind of wing it is before making stupid comments

Hey Chris! I work with 3D printers almost everyday so my recommendation would be to get a Tevo Tornado, has a large build volume and isn’t expensive at all.
May as well go for an Ender 3 Pro but really, he is going to need an enclosure or an enclosed printer so he can print ABS or some of the newer filiments.
Yeah definitely an option but I definitely see Chris wanting the bigger build volume. Basically the same printer but a little smaller then the Tevo Tornado. And he can easily build a simple enclosure if he wants to print abs.

i like it tbh. people seem to hate top mounted wings but they also dont realise that its actually the underside of the wing that creates the downforce, which is why the top mounted design is a thing in the first place. (cleaner air flow on the underside resulting in more consistent downforce)
Michael Fisher the wing dances on the boot lid . It’ll be creating nothing but stress on whatever hardware it’s been mounted with. Any downforce that it’s creating would make the car unstable anyway because it’s moving way too much.
well, if you watched the latest video, youd know why, and once he's made new, metal mounts, it'll be perfectly fine.
also, youre talking bs because all mounted wings like that flex, even on race cars. and if it still flexes too much he can always install a small, lightwieght cross brace which isnt all that uncommon.
