Glad with the choice. The Z is such a cool build and I’d love to see more progress on it. Making it 80% through a project can be done quickly, but the last 20% takes so much longer. Excited to see the Z refined further
You should make it a tradition where after you're done with a build, you should drive it to Disney and back.
It'll never be capable of ten percent of one way to Disneyland without inner wings/splash guards and washers/wipers. I'd personally lose that rear window louvre thing too; it's somewhere for stuff to get stuck, you can't clean under it, you can hardly see anything out through it, it weighs a ton and it looks shit - get it gone is my vote!
@@K1lostream If the louvers are built on right angle it doesn't block the view almost at all.

So long as we're getting updates - Let's finish the Z. You also look far more relaxed now than before SEMA, makes the ride far more enjoyable when you are enjoying it.
I'm glad you decided to finish it up, it'll feel really nice to have it more dialed in, then you can just enjoy it without thinking about all the stuff it needs.

That friggin' steering wheel probably moves 20 different ways. Yet, not even tried in order to optimize the seating position! lol

Aw c'mon! I mean we all know Chris is an idiot, but he's not a complete idiot! I'm sure either that column has not retained adjustability, or if it has, it is already as high as he can get it - he would NOT have compromised the structural integrity of (and thus accepted design liability for) his own frickin' seat (the only one GUARANTEED to be occupied in a crash) if all he had to do was drop a lever and move the wheel up.
Having said that, I was thinking a smaller wheel might have done it, or at least contributed enough that he didn't have to do quite so much with the seat structure.
The steering wheel was maxed out to the top and forward position. After the seat is modified he should be able to bring it down and back.
Love watching these builds Chris, keep up the great work mate. We can't do half the shit here in Oz that you guys can..... So jealous!!!!

The purpose of the car is a track car and cruiser. The SMG is better for track use and cruising.

You made the right choice, its so close and almost done. People with race cars, classic cars they work on them over winter for a reason.... so they are 100% ready come March / April.
just a side note for RTV and grease tubes, you can use toothpaste tube rollers from a dollar store or Walmart to keep them from blowing out and get more of the product out easier. i used them as a mechanic, keeps everything tidy and stops you from inadvertently wasting usable product.
Get another hood, paint it gloss black to match the back of the car. Finish the side trim pieces on the dash and on the door sill. This build deserves to be buttoned up and made truly awesome.

the velocity stakes need to consume a lot of air, with the hood on with out a scope it would be difficult?
Road trip it to socal and rip the canyons and a track down there. Lots to choose from and always great weather!

what about the bolts on the back side of the seat? i saw a gap where the bottom and back come together and no hardware can be seen at 8:00

Please make that passenger seat match the seating position of the driver seat. I mean it’s obviously not a huge deal at all when it comes to drivability but it drives my ocd crazy lol. Side not I’m so happy you are finishing this build and finishing it!
I voted for a new build, but I'm just as happy seeing this build continue! Keep it up dude, we're still here! Just try to maintain the cars outside a bit. Maybe give them a little clean up and get them some decent covers.

@@shona5512 I don't think the issue is KRplus. The issue is likely his camera. A good, small camera with a decent lens selection, that can shoot for long periods of time without overheating or having weird issues wasn't really cheaply attainable until pretty recently with some of the newer (like released this year) Sony and Fujifilm mirrorless cameras. I don't believe he's changed his camera setup in quite awhile so that's probably where the issue stems from. I know he's a computer guy, but editing 4K is a huge pain in the ass as well unless you have a rig setup to do it. I'm a developer like Chris and I know I certainly wouldn't have built a rig that would be capable of 4K editing at the pace and frequency he needs to do it. So yeah, it might not seem like a big ask to you, but it actually is a really big ask. There is a ton of money involved in changing camera systems and building a rig that's capable of doing 4K editing without being slow as hell.

If he moved on to the next project before getting this one sorted to drivable standards, it get pushed to the back of the lot, mostly forgotten, and not see the lights of the shop for years, until he hits 1,000,000 subscribers and does the recap special where he tracks down all the cars he's built since day one and puts them together for the thumbnail.

I'd say to start the new build and go back to the 240Z every 3rd video. Mix it up a bit. But whatev. You make installing a seat interesting.
I think when you work through all the little issues at the end of the build you'll have a better experience anyway.
Some mentioned using aluminum as an endcap. Could also use black ABS plastic and if it needed to stay accessible, use tiny neo magnets or fab small brackets or even threaded inserts?
before you start the next project keep organizing your workshop so as to make your life easier maybe a mobile work bench would save your back. The Z would make a great track car (not drift). looking forward to your next project.

since the engine and other bits are from an M5, I think you should add the M stripes somewhere on the car, large or small.
