    Chris, You might be able to find the wheel wells and such just like you found the outer fender skin. I believe they sell them Then since the frame is straight and the space frame are straigh use those as reference points to cut out the old and put in the new parts. Would save you tons on fabrication time and make sure the body is straight.

      Unless he measured everything to a body diagram, he doesn't know if the " frame " is straight. Even then, the car should have been rough pulled on a frame bench before removing metal he isn't saving. This way metal he is saving is pulled back into shape.

    I always find it fascinating how skillful and passionate people are when it comes to cars. It put a smile on my face when I see someone literally work from metal to metal compares to other other who just threw out fat stack of dollars to get expensive cars and make vlogs about it (and most of em are dead clueless about any of the nitty-gritty works as shown in the video).

    Try an automatic centre punch,it's a revelation! Single handed pop in dead centre every time. Carbide spot weld cutters with depth stop on them a real bonus to use.
    For busting awkward spot welds a carbide burr in a die grinder gets into tough spots. Grind the weld away with the burr till almost gone and then split with a thin chisel. Bang on every time!

    Another way to remove the quarter panel (which I regret not doing on my Corrado) is to leave the original quarter panel along the top where it meets the roof and make a cut along the C-pillar from the quarter glass to the rear window glass. Since the damage is all down lower, you can just cut your new quarter to match and butt weld the two together along the C-pillar. It saves you from having to mess around with welding and sealing in the roof gutter as well.

    • @stevewandel9317
      @stevewandel9317 5 년 전

      The other way I've seen it done (never had to do myself), is to get a thin cutoff wheel and jam it between the sandwiched panels to cut out the rest of the panel that was just cut off. Of course as long as it doesn't go too far in. But you only need it far enough to redo the spot welds.

      It’s called sectioning at the window opening/sail panel. Not sure if an open butt weld or sleeves are required per Nissan but I would imagine the sectioning procedure is allowed (it usually is). All data collision software or sometimes the dealer can provide that information or CCC if one has access to that collision estimating software

      Was thinking the same, I’m a Spray Painter & this is how 90% of quarter panel repairs get done in the industry if nothing is too badly damaged above the said cut. Way cleaner and easier than the way he has gone, and no risk of scratching the roof and having to repaint it. Not that I don’t agree how what he has done will be safe it just isn’t right in my eyes and bugs me knowing that’s what he is doing to a $100,000 car 😏

    • @domenicierullo4014

      I would have just sectioned it by the quarter glass, there's no reason to go into the roof. Plus a used quarter would have the outer wheelhouse and floor extension attached to make his life easier. Probably should've made his pulls with the quarter on...

    Kudos on being one the first, if not the only KRplus builder that has used an actual spot weld cutter instead of a drill bit. Good bit or not, there really is a difference in using the proper tool (mainly less pressure and thus less distortion to the structural panel underneath). As someone who is both OCD as hell, and who has done this work most of my life, it always drives me nuts to see people drilling spot welds instead of cutting them out.

Out with the old rusted panel, in with the new ( good condition junkyard panel ) I know how much the quarter panel would cost at the junkyard, but how much would I have to cut to separate the rear quarter panel, the rest being bolts etc. I’m 15 & I’m interested in buying this ‘92 Accord as a project car, the only problem is the rusty passenger rear quarter panel. I don’t wanna do a bunch of sloppy bondo & temporary stuff, I want to actually install a new quarter panel. I know the hardest part is the cutting & the maneuvering with the heavy panel once it’s off.

      I take it you aren't into sound quality. You can easily spend well over $200 if you actually give a damn about your sound. But this speaker is not even close to quality. It is a JBL knock off and the JBL is $99 and better quality.
