Hey guys before talking any negative stuff about our sponsor ebay motors, please read this. Ebay has a 100K vehicle purchase protection policy. If we would have gotten the car and done a compression test and found the engine was bad, i would have gotten a refund. BUT we have no idea if the engine was bad when we got the car, or when i hammered the hell out of it doing test passes during R&D, or other things. We dont know if i broke it doing mods, or not. So, be smart, dont be like me, do a compression test on a car ( or hell, even test drive it! ) and then if something is wrong, you are covered.

Flowkie. It’s not he probably it’s he does know more about engines than me. It’s a joke he was gonna turbo it but it had high compression being an n/a car so rather than changing pistons to low compression he decided to use nitrous. In doing so he blew the engine now the engine that should have high compression has low. Hence the joke put the turbo on. Thank you flowkie for absolutely killing my joke because of your simple slow brain..........

So many people giving Chris and Freddie shit for being bad at drag racing. Remember, these guys are the best at what they do: rebuild cars, cars that most wouldnt even dare try to do. Theyre not professional dragsters who spend their time doing runs, so cut them some slack. I thought you guys did great! Loved this build series
I wouldn't say they're the best at doing what they do. And I don't think they consider themselves to be either. But they do tackle projects we would only dream of and are entertaining while doing it.
Yeah neither of them claimed they were drag racers. Both of them expressed their interest in becoming drag racers though. I'm happy I finally got to see both of them go down the damn track. Now they can work on getting good.

@@dj4monie There are always other channels for you to watch. I like the fact that they show that they can fail at stuff and succeed at stuff. Could things have been better? Sure. Did they succeed in what they sought out to do? Yes. They bought an Ebay car site unseen, they tried to get these less then perfect cars to run 1/4 mile, (which they did)they had pre-existing issues with both cars that time and money would have fixed. The perfect run was not the point of this video. i applaud the attempt and say keep on keeping on. There will always be haters. The joy of the internet is it allows people to show who they really are. Thanks for letting us know who you are Anthony. No question about it.

right, with an aftermarket V8. a stock SC400 had a 4.0l V8. meaning, he could have competed with a stock SC400 and 100 shot of nitrous
I ran 13.9at 100mph with a fwd Opel Kadett 1988, 2.0 16 valve with a standard 150 hp engine on regular street tires. With better tires could probably make like 13.5.

well i havent drag raced since i was a teenager at the drag strip.. so sounds about right :p You have to realize we're not all good at everything, things take time to learn, and we do it all with cameras on.. im not ashamed of it, i learned a lot of great things, and ill do better next time.

@@tavarish Put a weight plate on the front of that civic and replace the suspension.
@@dj4monie weight plate is a must, but we ran out of time. Watch my video and you'll see everything we wanted to do but couldn't because of time or budget. This car had a low 11 or high 10 in it as it sat, I just needed to dial it in and get used to driving it, but considering we had literally no sleep and were trying to make the most of our partial day track rental, I'm pretty happy with the results. We learned a lot and will bring that knowledge with us to the track next time.

He swapped in the last motor he blew at the track that was laying out behind the garage for 2 years and put a carbie he had laying around that may have been for a truck or an old air-cooled VW, he doesn't remember (don't say it I know, you get the point though). Dude made it a 6k car for him since he wasn't having luck selling it the other way and just so happened to have a guy just waiting to say he'd part the vehicle out so he could buy the motor and all its go fast goodies! Haha.
It is probably worth that for the drag chassis alone . Motor was crap. He can put a new motor in easily.
I honestly don’t ever like videos but, as a veteran, as soon as you said you were going to make the donation to a veteran organization you got my like. Way to go chris. Honestly thank you. You have no idea how much this small gesture means to us.

That thing already had problems when he was doing night pulls outside the shop. It seemed slow and I didn't notice a difference from the nitrous

chris is gonna hafta build a pretty hefty LS, that honda is nasty! he needs to lower the air in the front tires a LOT but i think that car probably has sub 10s in it

What's funny is if the SC300 still had the 2J in it, with a basic turbo kit off ebay you could've made 300-350whp on stock injectors and ran faster 😂😂😂

Chris, I cant tell you how awesome it is that you donate to Mission 22, as a veteran, and having been in a dark place before I can say that these programs help a ton. Keep doing what you doing man, swap a nice quiet LS into that GS and have fun with it.

Ah The Reverse sleeper, it appears to be fast but is actually extremely slow :-)
Nah it was probably fast as hell but he ruined it with a sloppy efi install and threw nitrous at it untuned (holley self tune is a joke) and probably melted valves and rings

I wasn’t expecting that ending. I don’t think anybody is surprised that buying a project car off an auction site went a little sideways, but that was different than I expected. it’s still awesome that EBay sponsored the show. I’ve had great purchases with them in the past. I love the lines of the 1990s Lexus SC. Here’s hoping you are able to get it sorted out. Good choice for the charity too!

If you add timing and you lose power you gotta pull a couple degrees, not keep adding..
I remember the first time I took my '92 Mazda to the drag strip and was so excited.. thought my car was crazy fast until my 1/4 mile was 18 seconds LOL. Lost horrendously to a V6 Mustang :(... after that I went full blown mods/motor swap until it was totaled in a bad crash. But last pass was a 14 second 1/4 which is much better!!
planned or not planed you can see freddy is a genuine human ... love that guy
Back about 1998 I swapped a mild carbureted 350 with Vortec heads on it, into a Toyota pickup, it weighed about 3000lbs with driver and with a stock rear end (with a spool) it ran 11.60's at 122mph all motor, so there is definitely a lot more potential in this build with some proper tuning and testing.

Not everyone knows everything about a car that was built by someone else. That they have only had for a few days. At best the engine was 100% in the begining, yet im not so sure with only a few passes on the street and a few on the track. That tells me it was probably already going out and the builder/seller knew it was. Either way neither chris or Freddy are car experts and this was for fun.

A lot of times with old SBC big cam motor there’s not enough vacuum for brake booster to work correctly. Most drag car delete it and run a big bore manual, master cylinder. Great work!
