I think you should leave the gated shifter exposed. It's part of the centerpiece of this build! Also I think the classic round ball style shifter would fit nicely

Design the gate into that part and send the file to me, I can 3D print it in titanium or aluminum.

@@abnormallynormal8823 you've been able to do that for a while now, it's just been prohibitively expensive until recently... Now you can go out to a shop like shapeways and get them to do it for you

if you have tight bends in the cables it will also be harder to shift

That shift lever without the leather cover and with an after market knob (like a sparco) would look amazing. Especially being able to see the gated shifter housing.

fotolabman it’s the functionality of it that he needed, not the looks. It wouldn’t blend in with the rest of the huracan if he were to leave it exposed. It’s more of a plain Jane Audi interior bit.
Would you feel even worse if I were to tell you that boot came off of what looks like an Audi A4?
It worked very well in the murcielago or gallardo, where you also had stitched seats.

this was my first impression as I saw where he's gonna place that shifter. seems pretty far back
I was thinking that too. It's probably why nobody's done this before, and not only does it look uncomfortable, it looks like it's going to take a long time to get the hand from the wheel to the shifter. (Unless he doesn't care about being safe and stable with keeping one hand on the shifter)

Look at in relation to the arm rest... it looks far enough forward to rest your elbow on the arm rest and wrist shift it.

I think you should just put a metal knob onto your stick shift and ditch the gear knob and gaitor.

Get a used mill and a lathe in the shop and hire a hobbyist machinist when you need some weird part. Trust me, you will save tons of money.

As others have said, you’ll need a second elbow to use the shifter.
The Shifter looks quite far back, Fit the seats and test the position! :)

I’m a bit concerned.... this looks REALLY far back in the cabin in comparison to where you are going to be sitting to be comfortable to shift.
Too be fair, that is where the stock auto controls were so it shouldn’t feel too bad
@@tireshredder4208 How can you say such a thing? Those were just buttons. To shift you need some room for your arms... lol. Pressing a button or shifting is something completly else :P
yeah thats to far back, it needs to be where the red start button is now.
bend the shifter forward a couple inches to get just a little more clearance if that will make a difference maybe?
Obviously he's building this car for amputee's that will be shifting with their arm pit.

The dash actually looks nice all raw like the thumbnail photo. Good job on the shift nob although you might have to relocate the gate again if you have already adjusted the back end and your not finding the gears. Love the build can’t wait for the next part 🇮🇪
