It's ironic that before, it's absolute monarchs silencing people who don't agree with them, but in this day and age, they've become constitutional monarchs who kept their mouths shut in the public eye the most because they have the heavy responsibility of keeping a nation diverse in stance and ideology together.
The Queen's impartiality meant that regardless of stance, people felt that the she is with them, that she is a compassionate mother who listens. And honestly, this means a lot to me, coming from a nation whose president is both the head of state and head of government. It's built under the impression that an elected president can be partisan and impartial enough to please people with their own views, except we as humans are flawed, making it actually difficult to unite a country this way. As a president, you may be popular but there will always be people who will not agree with you because of your agenda, and this is why a seperate and impartial head of state matters.
Despite being called the Queen, she's truly a servant of the people with her efforts of putting up with prime ministers with their own policies and agendas for 70 years and the people should be proud of her being the only constant amidst any instability.

Incredible. In the UK, a monarch can serve for an unlimited number of years, but has not real political power and must remain neutral on political issues; whereas the PM and MPs, who have the real power, come and go. In many other parts of the world, the situation is sort of reversed.

It's an unusual system, but I can see where it might have some merit. If you are a conscientious leader, someone who really wants your policies to benefit the country, it would possibly be useful to meet with someone confidentially, a lay person, so to speak. If you could explain your policies to that lay person and receive honest feedback, it might help you clarify things in your own head. Conversely if you couldn't explain your policies to a layperson, even a priviledged person like the Queen, maybe they might need re-thinking.

The Queen at her age is certainly more than just your average layperson. Having witnessed many of the behind-the-scene actions of government through her documents and her weekly briefings with the Prime Ministers, she has accumulated experience and memory throughout the decades. Tho the PM is the Head of Government and has the actual power, the Queen serves as another de facto adviser while having the rank to at least give the PM pause to listen. A good PM will take what is useful and junk what is not but will listen.
Her majesty is de facto a living relic of Britain's history. Long may she reign!

As a Catholic, Francis the so called pope does not even do so in the loving manner Her Highness did. And forget U.S presidents, all of them! @EJ Shin - Constitutional monarchy is the best system there is...and yet - incredibly - here in Australia there are many people who can't wait to dump it in favour of some form of republican system as soon as the Queen goes. And yet this is one of only 10% of the world's nations that has been continuously democratic over the past 100 years...and the most oppressive, brutal, murderous dictatorships in the world over that time have ALL been republics of one sort or another. 😐
