This song means a lot to me. I’ve recently lost someone. She was a new student at my school. We talked from Day 1 to the last day. We were close. Really close. However we couldn’t date because of her extremely strict parents. I’ve never had anyone treat me the way she did. Her jokes. Her smile. Her voice... made me madly fall for her.
She didn’t feel the way I did at first. She loved someone else ( still couldn’t date him). She didn’t tell me she was in love with him. He was close to her like I was. It was obvious that she liked him. She would tell me she prefers me. Yet, she would sit with him and talk to him everyday... while she tries her best to ignore me. It sounded like I was only made for online chatting. Several months passed... and the guy stopped talking to her... after she forgot about it... she told me she was happy cause she got closer to me.. and then shit happened... she confessed her feelings.. we tried to make it secretive.. 3 weeks have passed.. and i noticed something weird in her behaviour.. she wasn’t texting me first ( i mean never).. she wouldn’t bothor replying despite being online... when I faced her with it.. she told me she can’t act like a GF when she’s hiding it from her parents... I understood and it was respectable.. Yet i was only asking for more attention and her company ( might be selfish but no it’s not)... her mum read the chat... she told her to get away from me... the next day she started saying some mean ass shit.. and it was over... 2 days later she sent me an apology email... she wants us to stay friends...
I’m hurt.. I’m broken... I don’t know what to do... and what hurts me more is that she’s able to be happy even tho im not in her life anymore... she gave me hope fir a possible relationship.. then ruined it when my feelings have reached their peek..

To all who commented that Bruno was oversinging in this tune, I personally think he was just using a highly chesty mixed voice for this song, which is why it gave that slightly 'painful' and strained sound if you will. Maybe for other tunes this is not appropriate, but for this song the slightly forced sound gives the emotional edge and 'sadness' it needed.
That being said, the man killed the performance (in a fantastic manner).

I think it's safe to say that Bruno Mars is the most talented artist in the music industry right now. I mean he writes/composes his own music, writes hit after hit for other artists, he dances and makes the iconic choreography himself, he plays like 10 different instruments, he has crazy Good vocals (plus he sounds great live unlike most artists these days) he only knows how to produce songs that are bound to be hits, and overall he is just a great performer.
