I had to come back and listen to this today. These words meant so much to me. My own leaders were a bit too self involved to remind us of who we could be. The Queen reminded this American nurse of her duty and the strengths he came from
This was a wonderful speech. I'm also an American nurse and this meant a lot to me. This is what a leader sounds like. We weren't hearing this type of message from our leaders and it was surely needed at the time.
"We will be with our families again" and now she's back with Philip. She was truly the inspiration of our nation.
@@BrokenSteel11 I was actually home with COVID when she gave this speech. I struggled with post-COVID syndrome when I went back to work, and listened to this speech to help me keep going. I agree with you. We need to vote for leaders that do that, and require better from the leaders we have.

I did too. This is best of humanity.
I know the Queen is also a human being, but I still can't believe she's gone. Known by people of all nations, ages, ethnicities and cultures around the world, she was perhaps the most famous person in human history. She was fashioned and carried her entire life. It was very easy for her to be gracious and repressed publicly. Her life was a militaristic robotic life of endless routine and duties. She privately was humorous and excitable over specific things like animals and was a great mimic.

During corona, I was worried and anxious, depressed even. But I didnt get the listen to the Queen's speech, because I live in Germany. I just now found it and though it might be way too late, it deeply touched me. My sorrows and grief and respect to everyone in the UK. Regards, a German.
Of all her speeches, this is the one I will never forget. It was the one light provided on the horizon as the rest of the world descended into bickering, finger-pointing, and conspiracy theories. She's so immortal she lived through world war II, the mist, the death of princess diana and to the coronavirus
I dunno about you but the death of princess Diana isn’t gonna post a threat to the life of the queen
@@elliot7753 no it isn't but it caused a great backlash to the Queen and the royals. Such huge backlash from the public can overthrow a monarchy if u know about history. And this was after the 'ANNUS HORRIBILIS' in 1992, the queen's worse year. If u don't know what that means, the queen is blamed for the fail marriages of her sons, princess Sara and princess Diana both divorces prince Andrew and prince Charles + the scandal with camilla, and the video of diana exposing the royal family. It caused a huge backlash to the Queen and that she almost lost the trust of the British community. and anything that post a threat to the monarchy is a threat to the life of the queen. Yet against all of that, after the annus horribilis and diana's sudden tragic death plus the public scrutiny, the Queen Elizabeth II lived through all of that and managed to keep her monarch in tact till now at the present day, now she is the longest reigning monarch in British history, among the longest ruling monarchs were Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth I (the virgin queen)
Fun fact: Traditionally, reigning monarchs should change their names. But Queen Elizabeth kept hers. There are many Queen Elizabeth's in british history, even Queen elizabeth's mother was named Elizabeth. The difference is that Queen Elizabeth is Queen Regnant, or a queen who has the right to rule. Its different from Queen Dowager and Queen Mother. Queen Dowager is someone married to a current monarch or a widower. Queen Mother is like the title of Queen Elizabeth's mother. She is married to the monarch and is the mother of the future monarch. It would be perhaps the title qiven to Kate middleton if George, her son would be crowned as king.

This is how leaders should sound especially during this time of global crisis.
Leaders shouldn't steal from the taxpayer.
I didn't vote for her
You wouldn’t have been able to anyways.

She and the royal family earn the UK more in tourism than they could ever cost to live their own life. We get it you’re edgy.
poke your ignorance blinds you.what rules has she taken to slow down the virus.the royals have become the kardashians of the uk
Wow, I'm hearing for the first time the voice of the queen. She's so elegant.
Mate shes the queen what did u expect a Geordie accent 😂😂😂
She very rarely speaks publicly that's why, this is only the 5th time she's done a public address in her 70 year reign
She gives a speech on Christmas Day, and opens the Houses of Parliament every year.
Same
I’m American I never herd her voice and she is so reassuring calm and level headed so elegant
I remember the early weeks of the pandemic when I, along with many others, was experiencing horrendous anxiety and depression in the face of lockdowns and an uncertain future. I felt isolated and alone. Though I'm not British, I watched the Queen's speech and felt a sense of hope and comfort.
I had to come back and rewatch it after hearing of her passing. May her family be comforted in her absence as they grieve her loss. Thank you, Queen Elizabeth, for the comfort and peace you gave me and the world during such a hard time.
Here in Australia this speech gave me more hope then any other leader and I wish more leaders actually spoke to the heart, as did the Queen in this speech. Her strength was inspiring and I am no royalist or non royalist, but rather looked at her behaviour and values and it depresses me that she is gone, because it feels like another constant, another stable force, has gone and so much of what was constant and what was stable and what remained certain has gone in the past few years. She acknowledged the pain, uncertainty and fear we all faced yet did so in a stable, reassuring way with words that were honest of the grim reality but still gave hope.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
I feel like this lady is going to outlive me and I’m 25.
Her mom lived till 101 so the queen will probably live a lot longer

Dude, Fr. As an American I have never connected with our leaders. Watching this speech made me tear up and actually believe that leaders can be kind.
@@jasonguerra4255 Agreed
@@jasonguerra4255 I agree with both you and OP... she is kind, astute and certainly intelligent. Regardless of how we might feel about the mechanics of politics or wealth held in the name of the "Crown", Queen Elizabeth II is and always has been a tremendously positive cultural figurehead. In other words, a leader. She was critically needed at this time and she came through. Even this pagan humanist feels bound to say: God save the Queen!
You can consider it apreciated now.
That is very kind of her. Now I wonder if she’ll bring up that Christmas was pagan in this year’s message.
Anybody coming here again today...? God bless her.
What a magnificent person she was. We were blessed to have her at our head, serving us.

When she says "We will meet again" check the way her voice changes. A real nod to the WWII spirit and fight which she remembers vividly.
@patrick quinn Buddy give it a rest
@patrick quinn hate the royal family THAT much?
@patrick quinn you are right. Here in the UK there are millions living in poverty. Over 4 million reliant on food banks and 1.3 million children have to go to school in the morning without having had breakfast. The NHS which has faced decades of cuts now have to cope with this pandemic whilst this lady, the richest woman in the world with countless estates all paid for by the taxpayer and hundreds of servants has contributed ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of her enormous wealth to fight this. I have more respect for a nurse on shit pay dealing with this on the front line than I have the Queen or any of the royals. A lot of people in this country want a republic and you can see why. In the last 24 hours there have been over a million applicants for Universal Credit, a hand to mouth pittance of money paid out to people who have lost their jobs. Talk is cheap and the royals are full of shit
educate yourself
every issue is not going to be resolved in an instant
dont use the queen as a scapegoat
she has done more for this country than you could do in 20 lifetimes
She also refers to people who have secummed to corona, those we wont see again untill we are in heaven.
"We'll meat again". The title means "We will see each other again", which refers to the mobilization in WW2 and the departure of the soldiers to the front. Their families don't know when they will return - or even return, or see each other again in heaven. The song was often performed to departing soldiers in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
“We will meet again”
Powerful words of reassurance in unprecedented times.
