If you are wanting to do this again and get better interactions with the fursuiters here are some tips: they have blind spots so they can only see straight in front of them. You do want to be loud because you can hardly hear out of the heads. A good way to start a conversation is not acting like an animal because they will think you’re crazy, you can ask who made there suit or if they made it themselves.

Furries are also in a way ‘playing a character’ and speaking in their real voice would break their acting - sort of like mascots at a football game. Not many people take that too seriously though and many furries talk normally :)

I think the reason for it being awkward is the lack of understanding of what a furry is and lack of enthusiasm
