The natural beauties of Albania are similar to those of its neighbours BUT cultural sites of Albania a different and special. There are also Anglo-Albanian monument sites with cultural and historical connections that are worth visiting.
I would love to go to new Albania! As an American visitor and even live there in my dreams. Beautiful place! Nice Great People!

So much has changed since this was made in 2016. They had the most tourists in their history in 2023 and the industry is booming. 10 million tourists visited in 2023. It’s just going to get better and better. There are plenty of new beautiful hotels all over the coast. It still has a lot of improvement to go, but the roads are new and it’s a definite must visit now.
I went in November and going back again. I can see its cheap and unspoiled beauty and culture soon becoming exploited by mass tourism and wanted to see it all before it turns into a second Italy.
Would never go there. Its a Muslim country like Tunisia Egypt Morocco etc. I don't trust them because they hate the westerner but love their money.. I went to Tunisia once. Never again like a flea pit swarming ants trying to get your money 💰😂

Albania is not cheap anymore and to many people in summer + extreme traffic jams in summer. Small country like albania with 3 million people hosting over 10million turist is nightmare

I went to Albania once and asked some police officers for directions, they then extorted me of 50€ or they would make some charges against me. Not going back.

If you're a tourist it all looks attractive. Cheap hotel rates, beautiful beaches with crystal clear water and lovely weather. However such videos only show you the surface. I'm reading comments of people who've visited Albania and were extorted by the police. That's gonna put people off. No matter where people go, the #1 thing they care about is their safety. Colombia, Mexico, Brazil etc are all popular tourist destinations but one thing that has repelled some people from going back to those places is the crime and the risk of being abducted. Albania seems nice but there's something sketchy about it. I mean if you're just gonna spend a few days then you'll probably be okay but staying long term? I don't know. And it's not just Albania but anywhere in eastern Europe can be sketchy. This is not to say western Europe is perfect. No, far from it but personally I've never felt any anxiety or fear of being extorted in the west.

Goodness, nobody looks up anything before writing comments! Prince Leka was married in October 2016, per Wikipedia. That's a little more than 7 years ago. They announced their divorce in January of this year.....

That is so true, driving the Llogara Pass was a nightmare, bumper-to-bumper in a hilly road, endless cars, like a long caravan. We escaped without hitting another car or being hit by other cars.

I am Serbian, going this year for the first time to Albania as a tourist guide for a foreign group on a Balkan trip :)
Well, many Serbs were going to Albania for summer vacation during COVID-19 (it was easier and cheaper), it's not far so why not.
Some of them would come back and say it was great, others would come back and say it is like Montenegro, but less crowd and fewer buildings (what means better). Some of them didn't like it for some reason - it is very similar as going anywhere else.
There is no organised online propaganda against Albanian tourism. Maybe there are some trolls that like to make such comments without even visiting or going there but they would do similar things for everything.
Let's see what Albania looks like - my german wife says it was great there and haha - very similar to Serbia and Montenegro from her point of view (not only landscapes but also the people).

@nikolamisic3600 Yep, Albania is very similar to Montenegro and Serbia; many young people are open minded; tourism is open for everyone; it does not matter if you are a Serbian or Russian, you are always welcomed in Albania. Last year I saw many tourists from Poland, Check Republic, but there were Serbs, Russians and Ukrainians; and others from Germany, Netherlands and Nordic countries. Overcrowded, but not crazy. The hotel we stays was $85 per night, but if you book well ahead of the season you could get a good bargain. Crimes against tourists are almost inexistent. Plus, Albanians are known for their hospitality, especially if you go for rural tourism, that's where you could enjoy real Albania, and real Albanians. The beaches and other tourist attractions have started to become more expensive. Roads were improved, but I will see if the new highway to Montenegro and Croatia is completed.
I can't wait for Serbia and Kosovo to normalize their relationships, so the entire region moves ahead from the past, and people would move easily among different countries, and without being judgmental of one-another.
It's 2024. This "best documentary" seems to date from 2016. It's absorbing, striking, even beautiful - but how helpful is it to learn about the Albania of 8 years ago? I feel let down.

I grew up in Switzerland and most of the albanians in school had no respect for our culture and told me they hate swiss people although their parents were always nice and hard workers. Its mostly young people who act like that. I also got slapped and harassed by them as a kid. Nowadays Switzerland has migration problems because they let in all the scum

But the Albanian people might decide they want a royal as a figurehead, head or state or even just as a tourist attraction.

The horribleness tourist this last summer in Albania was the poor, loud Italien people, a very big shame, the are so bluffing, don’t have money, was eating in restaurants, dident pay, was in hotels, dident pay, so then the Italien president Miloni was paying about this big SHAME, so that’s the thought. Also Beginns with more American people the want to live there, only because it’s cheap, newer about the nice helpfull people….its a pitty. Also very much old Pensionits Italien, the are only in Albania for live, about its cheap, because there incoming is so little, the also think, that the are better with here bit little more money.
