She's often referred to as the vocal bible but I don't know why. To me the vocal bible would be lalah Hathaway or tonex but yep
datchiq-kae She’s called that because of a few things. She’s regarded as having one of the best timbres in the industry. And ig timbre is subjective, but maybe unique would be a better fit. She has the ability to use different tones and textures. Her technique is also incredible & very polished. She has a very melodic ear. She’s also revered for the way she hears music. Her finesse is one of a kind. Her background vocals & harmonies are top tier. Her range is incredibly expansive and usable in her music. She’s one of the best melismatic singers in the game. She’s just a trailblazer when it comes to singing and musicianship. She employs so many different aspects of music into her songs and her singing. She’s one of those very few singers who really has everything you could look for in a vocalist. Tone, texture, technique/control, range, phrasing, musicality, emotion/soul..That’s the reason for the name I think. But also the fact that she has influenced & gained the respect of countless singers, including many of her contemporaries. I don’t doubt that artists in most genres of music respect her ability and craft. And also Like Whitney is the Voice because she encompassed so many vocal attributes, Aretha for her vocal prowess and soul, etc. One name isn’t better than another, it’s just the meaning behind it. I think people tend to see “Vocal Bible” and run with it. It isn’t that she’s the “Best Singer” It’s really her influence, ability, and legacy all rolled into one.
