It's sad to know this is the speech that caused people to start a petition to get him removed from "Grey's Anatomy." He's speaking the absolute truth! Please remember that it is not a crime or offensive to voice outrage concerning social injustices like racial discrimination. Anyone who thinks it is undoubtedly is racist, prejudice, etc., and they want oppression to continue. If we want things to change, we must continue to speak up and take action. Any friends or acquaintances you lose in the process were never for you anyway.

Yeah, I didn't realize until after I finished the video that it was originally from 2016. Although I did get tripped up a bit when he mentioned Tamir Rice's age! 😅🤦‍♀️ lol Should've realized right then that the speech was from a while ago. I just realized Tamir would've just turned 19 a couple days ago on June 25. Boy might've been in his 2nd year of college, if that's the route he decided to take and was available to him. His life was cut way too short. And all for the crime of just being a child while black. 😞
And it breaks my heart as well that a video on police brutality and the unwarranted executions of black and brown people that was made *FIVE* *YEARS* *AGO* is still just as applicable today. And that, honestly, if not for that Tamir Rice comment, could have been made yesterday. We still have a loooong way to go in this country, unfortunately. 😔
But Derek Chauvin was just sentenced for his *murder* of George Floyd, and I can only hope that as more police officers are held accountable for their undue assaults and killings of American citizens, and _especially_ POCs, others in the future will pause before pulling the trigger or will stop kneeling on someone's neck after only 29 seconds instead of, you know, *9* *minutes* *&* *29* *seconds* (or better yet, just don't kneel on them at all!). And slowly but surely there has been some progress in a few jurisdictions with Defunding the Police, but there are still way too many with too much money and power without nearly the accountability.

After many, many, MANY peaceful protest years prior-to no avail- we the people got tired of the same BS. And now, with some patience- and muscle- things are starting to slowly change for the better. Police profiling and brutality has to end. It is not right for them to say that they “protect and serve” when that only applies to someone white and not of color. We have souls too, we have dreams too, we bleed the same, we love the same. We just want to breathe. Enough is enough. Let’s make change happen for the better. For our children. For our future.

EVERYTHING that Jessie said I've heard in the first three chapters and I am mortified. I had an existential and philosophical breakdown because (why I never this, I don't know why, my dad never taught me this) Dr Robin DiAngelo talked about what Racism is "That it is a system and not an event"
It is so heartbreaking to see how fabricated and manipulated we have been. I honestly question why Martin Luthor King marched for integration, if they didn't want us fcking there, why badger to be inside it. We should have set up our own schools, our own banks, and our own education system.

This is so inspiring. The layers of social and historical references are key to understand. His speech implores listeners for a call to action of change. "...critique of our oppression.." is an important sentence because it talks about the systematic racism within the U.S.

Power to WE!! 👊🏽 heard this young man's powerful acknowledgement of the world numerous times. You can't fool us we are bigger better and more powerful than ever before we are people rising up to our saviour who has given us the strength to not take things laying down. With generations before us, now and to come we WILL get what's rightfully ours 🙏🏽
