Ms. Jane Elliott is as powerful a voice against white supremacy now as in 1968 following the killing of Dr. King when she began the Blue-Eyed Brown-Eyed Exercise with her all-white, Mid-west, rural farm students. Check KRplus.
From the beginning of this exercise, she had major skin in advocacy. Her true grit and guts is inspiring (reminds me of many mid-Western women). Her job was in jeopardy as a teacher when parents pushed back against their kids being taught fairness, and when school officials caved/agreed with the parents either out of cowardice or to maintain status quo of superiority. I've also heard her interviewed and reported some conflict w/ her own father over her standing up for what's right, truth and Christian (don't recall details w/ her Dad, though).
I love her questions to this group of whites and I presume adults: Who would like to be treated as police treat Blacks? And, if no one would like this treatment, pls report to me here how it is you can stand by silently promoting racism/ police brutality in your affirmative silence, and don't speak out and don't stand up to change it for all children?
