A whole lot of respect and love to Beyonce for making this. I'm so glad my little girl gets to grow in a new world that promotes the beauty of dark skin. Its been really hard for most dark skinned indian girls who are now parents and have girls who are dark as well. Now I can tell my daughter you're as beautiful as you feel. It's literally all about where you were born and grew up. Black people in the Africa and in the predominantly black Caribbean countries seem to have that strong foundation of being comfortable in their skin and knowing and understanding that they are beautiful.
Issue of not liking dark skin tone seems to be more of an issue in countries with predominantly light or pale skinned people. It's sad. But it's all good.
Feel lucky u aren't born in India otherwise u would have made the exchange

Hahaha as for me and my generation, whoever feels whatever they want to feel about my skin is their business.I love mine,I cannot trade it for anything.
Songs like this help me to appreciate myself more. As a black girl who grew up in Los Angeles, I often felt insecure about my skin tone. I wished I had lighter skin, lighter hair, straight hair, a thinner figure, or light colored eyes, like all the pretty girls around me. Then I came to Atlanta for college and got the opposite reaction. Several people here have point blank asked me, "What are you? You must be half white, or mixed, right?." No matter what I responded, it didn't seem to change their opinion of me. I was either too light, too dark, or not African enough for their taste. Moral of the story is, it doesn't matter what color your skin is, it matters what you think of yourself and trying to let that inner beauty shine. Easier said than done, but if you are reading this comment, just know that you are beautiful for who you are, no matter what others think of you. Feel free to comment on your experiences too.
"your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story" this song is so fucking beautiful
i am an Indian, and in India if you are a dark skinned women, you are looked down upon and considered ugly. I had always hated my complexion because i was told to by everyone. It was only in the western media that i saw women of my skin colour being called beautiful. Watching and listening to dark skinned girls being confident in their brown skin and embracing their melanin has made me love mine too.
Edit: As an Indian, I am ashamed of the recent controversial song, "Beyonce Sharma Jayegi" (Translation: Beyonce will be ashamed *after seeing a fair skinned girl*) because it just shows how racist and colourist INDIAn Media is. but i am so very proud of the indians speaking against it. I had to come back here, because the moment i heard about the title of that colorist song, i was reminded of this song.
That can’t be easy. Dark skin is gorgeous. Unfortunately the world is late on this truth. We gotta instil the self love into our children that we didn’t get. That’s the only way 🥰 Best wishes to you.
I am so so happy for you!! You are beautiful and don’t let anyone Who has self hatred put you down

The part where beyonce said your skin is not only dark it tells ur story ; had me crying
I think the part with Beyonce and Kelly at the end as they stare into each other's eyes with the lyrics "'I'd never trade you for anybody else" happening at the same time is the most touching part of this video, just for the sake of their personal relationship. Beyonce considers Kelly every bit her true sister as much as Solange. The two of them have been through so much together from childhood, success/fame, navigating the entertainment industry, motherhood, and so much more. Kelly is one of Bey's ride or dies and Bey will never forget that. Also, the song and video may also be Bey's way of addressing colorism and the longtime narrative that Kelly's darker complexion held her solo career back while Bey's lighter complexion helped to fuel hers. This was Bey's public way of telling Kelly she's enough and she's beautiful the way she is.
Loved that that too is my favorite part❤️❤️
Agreed! I think the narrative was so much this was a song for Blue, but this was her love letter to Kelly. 🥹
I think I almost cried when she included a dark skinned South Indian girl. Beyoncé is just a queen, that’s all I can say
EDIT: Pls stop telling middle eastern women that they don't face racism. Middle easterns range from black to white. Dark skinned middle easterns face racism. Stop believing everything that the media tells you and stop being ignorant under my comment.
I CRY EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS 💕💕

Uh!! Seriously🖤🖤
Learning about South Asian colorism legit
shocked me even as a Black woman having seen the absolutely astounding beauty of y'all specific range of dark skin tones. It's just so warm and velvety in every shade! Then seeing them in brighter colors and jewel tones and mountains of gold! It broke my heart that a little girl gifted with a blessing like that could hear the same hurtful things I did as a little girl about my own skin. To feel disregarded and disrespected. Every litte Brown Skin Girl should be guilded and treasured to the ends of the earth.

This song is a gifft, a legacy Beyonce shares to the world. A celebration and testament to every non-white girl of their beauty. This is an amazing inheritance she will leave to her children, her grand children, and future generations to come. The sound deviates from a strong celebration of strong black women which Beyonce always does. It has shifted into a softer, acknowledging way that still has a strong mesasge of empowerment. I'm not ashamed of my skin color at all, but when I was a little girl I didn't like it at all, now I think of all the girls listening to this song who can feel more confident and know that their skin is precious as a diamond and that's so beautiful. If someday I have a daughter, I will definitely sing this to her
Big ups to Wizkid and SAINt JHN for killing their parts too. This song is so beautiful and moving. Bey always delivers magic

I am brown I never feel included even though I am Indian,I am brown skinned too
I personally feels like the music was mostly advocated for black people specifically and black women always have to be inclusive with other races of women but they are never included in other platforms as much. They know what black looks like as I don’t see Indian men next with black men. I think Beyoncé did it due to pressure I personally think this music was dedicated to black brown skin girls but felt like they had to be inclusive. I think people gotta let black women have their own platform cuz they don’t get represented as much either due to colorism within their own community
That’s Nigeria
I felt ugly today, September 12, 2023. This song lift my energy and confidence:)

I love how she included everyone, even an African albino. That was another level of depth.
OMG YES
yup , and i was wondering why there's a white girl in a song about brown skin girls 😂
Yep and an Indian girl

As a brown skin Muslim woman, I am so proud of my color and wouldn't want any other color for my skin. Thank you, Queen B, for this.
Edit: Woow, I’ve never had this many likes 🥺 thank you, you beautiful people ✨♥️
Growing up, it was not easy, specially around the time of the 9/11. And it made me feel bad for being the way that I am. Glad to say, those days are gone!
I had many insecurities with my skin color growing up, and watching this video actually made me start sobbing seeing how beautiful all of these women looked, and that there’s no reason to ever be ashamed of my skin color. I had been on this journey long before this song, but this really hit home. I hope you never ever feel ashamed, Beyoncé made so many great points about our skin color in this video.
@Fabulous Fiona it is about brown black women, but I was emphasizing the inclusion of Indian women, which I can relate to. Even though I’m not from India, my culture has a lot of Indian influences. I’m an European Muslim, but my ancestors come from India and Mozambique.
@Fabulous Fiona Happy New Year! 🥳✨
Amen to that sister
This song right here!
For every melaninated sister who hair is kinky and told get to the back of the line “Stand up!” Take your rightful place! You are fearfully and wonderfully made; You are Beautiful, You are Loved ❤
When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In The Sky” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you ❤️😊
God bless you ❤❤❤
This song made me tear up. I relate to this message, cause as a child I was always humiliated by people around me for being too dark. I am asian, and as a child I was always darker than everyone, my cousins, classmates. Boys use to call me the N word for having darker skin and plump lips. Hell, even my grandma and close family members used to shame me for having darker skin, and not looking like other kids. I remember only mama used to protect me from relatives by saying i have a chocolate complexion. All of the songs in our entertainment were also about light skinned girls, I used to grow up thinking smth is not right with me. Then during teenage years I knew about Beyonce and saw how beautiful and strong a dark skinned woman can be, she became my idol. I used to learn all her songs, which helped my English too;) Growing up I have become more confident in myself and my appearance. To sum up, I am proud of Beyonce and other artists taking part in this and I am thankful for the message. I am grateful that little girls are going to listen to this song and feel more confident. I wish someone showed me a song like this when I was a little girl. To all the women and girls reading this, You are beautiful just the way you are!💞
Edit: Thank you all for supporting words in the comments, stay safe and healthy!✨
black is king, white is king , we alle are the same. I love you !

Sing it girl!!! Damn right💎❤
@Joelle meaning Jehovah is God This is ridiculous. How is praising skin tones satanic? Don’t you watch the news? Don’t you see how brown skins, dark skins, etc, are being killed? Threatened? People are loosing their love for their skin tones. They aren’t comfortable in their skins anymore, for fear of getting killed or hurt. And Beyoncé wants to help us recover. She wants to help us get back our love for our skin tones, by shedding some light for all of us in this period of time, and you’re over here talking about satan? Yes, she gave her life to the devil. But this song was written to shed some light into this period of time we’re living in. I’m so pissed off. This is just pure ignorance.
OKAY BEYONCE! Why she gotta be out here making people cry!? Song has barely started and I'm already tearing up just from the imagery. This was gorgeous to look at and listen to. Let me play it again...
This song is so inspiring and necessary. When I was a young child living in Orange County, I used to get chased home everyday. The kids would make fun of my hair and my skin. They would call me Chocolate Milk. My mother would tell me to call the children chasing me vanilla. I would have loved to have an anthem like this one. Our young black girls needed one so badly, so that they could understand that they are beautiful. Thank You Beyonce!
This is so beautiful
😢❤️❤️❤️
I hope that experience only made you stronger. Milk Chocolate is beautiful. And the best flavor out of Nesquik! Lol
When I was younger my favorite song was by James Brown. Say It Loud, I'm Black and Proud! Good Blessings to you

As an Asian woman, I felt it. My own mother told me I was lucky to have my father's fair skin, unlike my mom who's brown. Now that I'm grown up, I once told her "why are you saying shit like this, you're beautiful, I always wanted to be like you! Brownskin color is beautiful!" Her expression changed and she smiled sadly. I always hated this beauty standards, thank god it's changing now! Love my mom, the most beautiful person in the world 🙏 you go, brown skin sisters 🙌❤️❤️
@Sanjana Desigan stfu
Omg as a Latino my dad used to talk about how his side of the family is fair skinned like it was something to be proud of. I'm brown af and used to feel shamed so much so that I started to lighted my skin when I was 19 it wasn't until like this movement of brown pride that I became proud of my brown skin. Now I'm happy to go out in the sun and get darker thanks to Beyoncé.

This song makes me cry all the time. When I was a kid I was bullied for being really dark by other black kids. I always wanted to bleach my skin till I got older and I started loving my skin. This songs reminds me of my journey , how it feels to finally love my skin and have others appreciate my skin too. This song makes me feel loved and appreciated as a dark skin woman. Thank you queen B👑

I love your story and thank God you didn't succumb to the bleaching - the sun-kissed us with this beautiful melanin skin which defines our splendour and glory! Keep walking - head up high represent being black beautiful and proud 🙏🏾
My story is the same but this song makes me hopeful for the next generation of my family, who I don't think wont be bullied but won't be brought/made to feel low by it like we were.
You are gorgeous, love. ❤️
I understand what you mean I was raised in a white neighborhood so it was always questions about my appearance but as I got older I learned Being a black woman was a GIFT FROM GOD MY DAUGHTER IS THEEE MOST BEAUTIFUL CHOCOLATE GIRL SHE I AM SO THANKFUL TO GOD SHE IS PROUD OF BEING WHO SHE IS MAKE MY HEART SMILE THIS IS HER FAVORITE SONG
Brownskin girls around the world let's make this 1Billion song. ❤
She make us to be proud of our skin i really love the song ❤️❤️good job Beyonce 👍👍
If anyone does not understand WHY this song exists you need a reality check. Giving encouragement and praising Women that look like her or similar or can identify with her IS NOT RACIST OR DISCRIMINITORY. This song is saying for black women to appreciate what and who they are and that their skin is not a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. I cried several times listening to this song and I loved it from the first time I have heard it. -Brown skin Girl
Thank you. My 4 and 6yr old daughters love this song. I play it for us ever time we get in the car. I really need them to understand there is nothing wrong with their skin or the way they look. I try not to cry cause i got teased being dark skin growing up. My husband make sure to tell me how beautiful i am every day and i feel good but this song really helps me out even more
Your absolutely correct!
Goddess Blackberry Whenever we uplift black girls we’re always discriminating and have to uplift other girls like ? What ? we can’t just uplift ourselves without other people getting offended,
