They said later in the episode that his parents work full time and come home late. The boy didn’t tell his mom because he didn’t want her to worry about him. About her reaction when she found out you can tell she was holding her anger in. His mom tells him to do things but that’s his mom, I also get it’s normal for sometimes cousins and sisters to tell younger family members to do things for them but his mom is always thankful for he many things he does for her and takes care of him. The reason why those girls are around often is because their parents want them around to watch the house and him and his sister after scoop since they work late. They know what they’re doing they said later in the episode their grandma favors him so they were somewhat resentful. Instead of helping out like they agreed instead they chose to push him around and have go around like an errand boy.
