2:21 I know how that catcher feels. I played baseball when I was little. I used a football helmet, and one day, the ball got caught in the faceguard. I had never felt more vindicated.
The clip never shows what happened to the seagull, I grew up an A's fan, living just a few miles away. They showed it on the news. The seagull flew right in front of the batter as the ball was crushed, on the news, all you saw was feathers flying and nothing of the poor bird. It was quite an explosion of feathers on TV. RIP poor Seagull.
@@TheLeonarto The seagulls don't bother the game until after the seventh inning, they know that people will start leaving the game and they can swoop in and look for snacks. Probably happened late in the game. What annoys them, an extra inning game. They want what's theirs now, not in five extra innings.
I never knew that rule... I always thought that if a ball rolled foul, it was foul. I never knew that if it crawled back fair before crossing first or third, it becomes fair 😄
01:21 In his career as a pitcher, whether it was a hit, home run, or accidental foul ball, the coincidence and catch combined with my ability to catch one of those balls, considering how lucky she is to have watched the first baseball game in front of pitchers and batters, and how many times she will reappear in her conversations for the rest of her life, we will notice how much service and professionalism many of MLB's players share with their audiences. I hope that this spirit will continue in the Korean Baseball League as well. I think it would be quite positive to watch an edited version of these videos one day during a year-long game and training session.
I saw an outfielder almost catch a ball, only to have it bounce out and go over the wall, a long time ago in Baltimore. The outfielder was about three feet in front of the wall, it hit his glove and bounced over the wall as he tried to close the glove and he was left standing there looking into his glove, doing double takes.
I thought the lights went out on 6:33. Reminded me of my Ravens superbowl game. They were absolutely rolling over the 49ers and all of a sudden the power went out. It totally killed the momentum and the 49ers damn near came back to win. It came down to the very last play but Kapernick couldnt complete the TD pass. Ravens won but hella conspiracies began!
Because he(Bartolo Colon Morales) is a pitcher, and this is his first homerun. Furthermore, he is 42 years and 11 months old. this is a new record instead of Randall David Johnson's. I'm Japanese and too poor at English. Sorry if you couldn't my sentences.
that was his first homerun ever. not only is he a pitcher. but as the reply above me says. he was almost 43 at the time. beating out Randy Johnson who had just turned 40 when he hit his first back in '03.
When Cano bunted a double I laughed my @ss off I saw that game haha, that's a great example of why the now former ridiculous shifts can bite you haha. 😂😂 and that catcher catching it in his mask was just wow...I saw another play within the past few years where a similar thing almost happened but instead of the mask catching it, the ball actually hit the mask so hard it caused sparks off the foul tip....😮
Too bad there wasn't a baserunner on first when the ball was stuck in the catcher's mask. I can see the runner stealing second and third while the catcher is trying to dislodge the ball. Then again, a quick-thinking catcher may just throw his mask to the third baseman while the ball is still in it. If the third baseman then tags the runner with the ball/mask, he would be OUT, right?
@Zanti haha I know right? Would that be even legal to throw the whole mask though? That reminds me of an old Yankee game you probably heard of it or remember, when El Duque fielded a ball and the hit was so hard it literally got stuck in his glove so he threw the whole glove with the ball in it to Tino Martinez who caught it and was an out lol. I don't know if they'd have issues with that now but I'd imagine if not, throwing the catcher's mask with the ball in it should be ok?
@@MKF30 Yeh, when I made my post I was thinking of that play where the ball got stuck in the fielder's glove and the fielder threw his glove to first. I can see the play with the catcher's mask causing even more confusion, as an attempted steal isn't a force play and requires a tag. Guaranteed, the manager will run out screaming, "Okay, Ump, maybe he applied the tag in time, but it was with the mask! The ball never touched my player!"
1:32 if you kept watching the actual game, you would’ve known that it hit the top of the wall and it was actually a home run and they after he got tagged out officially called it a home run
Partly because that was his first home run. He holds the record for the oldest first homerun at 44. Especially when he often threw away his at-bats because he would try to stay healthy for pitching
