I tried making a halo energy sword like you described and it was a bit challenging (especially with the length) but a few of the tests did look pretty cool!

Thanks! I think the key is really just voltage/maybe frequency. I started with a neon sign transformer but the flyback/zvs driver had much better results, and that's really the only difference. Less power but higher v and hz.

I wouldn't really consider this to be a proper blade, more like plasma scissors. Perhaps a series of these plasma projectors could be arranged along one side, creating more of a proper edge?

What's really messed up is I bought him from a thrift store for like $3. He was cheap cause he didn't work, but he just had a jammed gear so once I gave him a "push start" at home he woke right up. Basically woke him up from a coma after who knows how long. Then I electrocuted him.

I was kicking around the idea of a rifle with steel bb’s in a chamber that are fed into a magnetic bottle where plasma is “pumped” in and once a certain temp is reached the plasma bb combo is sent down a barrel lined with alternating polarity magnets that accelerate the plasma bb toward a target
So kind of like a BB railgun, but with added plasma?

Burnt Ivory King of Eleum Loyce / maybe but, if the super hot plasma was only contained for an instant before being sent down the barrel it might work. This gun would need a lot of processing power and materials designed to deal with extreme temperatures. And of course I’m not suggesting that it be a shoulder fired weapon or even crew served but more akin to modern pdc’s or a rail gun

What if you made a sword with the plasma on the outside. A way of doing this i think would be epic is if you cut up a normal blade and spaced out the pieces putting the leads on the far end of one piece, placed at the end of the sword, and the near end, placed at the base. That way the arc would jump from segment to segment. This would make a functional blade and taser, also a way to make the normal non inverted halo blade!
I would love to see more of this, and imagine how cool it would be if you got a real sword blade on one of the sides or both sides. Don't know how it would work but it sounds cool haha

you should try to get the actual edge to be plasma, cus right now you dont have a plasma edge. Maybe get like a few very short jacobsladders next to eachother and blow air across those through a slit or something akin to that. Your plasma could portrude further than the actual copper and youd have an actual blade! albeit existing out of a few different plasmas rather than just one.

i think i remember reading something about how in star wars before there were light sabers they carried these sort of light weapon ( i forget what they were called) but it was basically some type of bag or battery strapped to their back with a wire or hose connected to the sword you would hold, seeing what he just built reminds me alot of that ig.

I've tried that with a MOT, problem with pulling an arc with a MOT is the ferrite core is weak and becomes saturated quickly.
This means you could pull an arc for a second or two, but has to be shorted first.
That is unless you cut out the secondary of the transformer and gave it around 80-100 windings to multiply the voltage from the primary. This would create the voltage needed to pull a constant arc, but the problem is that the current would be lost largely, and a short would cause the wire to burn up and short out itself.
Bruh the right hand rule is the only thing I remember from high school physics.

So, how about a version of the plasma blade with one of the electrodes being on the tip of a rod and the other one being position on the handguard. You can put magnets inside the rod itself to let the arc spin around the rod, basically a plasma sword :D.
The voltage required would be insane: A foot of air requires about 700,000 volts for the initial spark (unless you have the air already ionised). Such a voltage would require a very thick hilt to avoid short circuits, and would be rather dangerous to experiment with.
It wouldn't be a very long blade...For 3 ft that'd be like a bajillion volts.

Yeah, i should have made it clear that i would also suggest to put a row of metal pins in between the two electrodes to reduce the overall way that the electricity has to take through the air, iron would make a good pin material since it has a relatively low resistance. Think about it, at a lenght of 500mm and a max air travel distance of 90mm you would need a row of 82 pins (with a distance of about 1mm vetween every pin). When your rod got a radius 17,5mm, you would need about 1802 pins to cover the whole rod. I know that sounds like the sword would be heavy as fuck but you have to remember that the pins wouldn't have more than 1 to 2mm in height, so the pins together would weight around 556 grams (pretty light isn't it :D).
If you compare that with the weight of an actual sword it doesn't look that heavy

How about two spark gaps, whose plasma is air-blown towards each other in a V shape? By applying a, third, independent, even higher voltage at the tips of the V shape, you can get V shaped plasma!
What i thought of when you first demonstrated the Jacob's ladder with a leaf blower was you could have a serrated blade and each point is opisite, with tiny air streams in between each one (that might be REALLY thick though)
