It's pretty common for performers to have not seen the finished product including edits. So, yeah, it's pretty believable.
I think the better question is, are we really supposed to think they would give genuine reactions when their paychecks are being hung over their heads?

Personally, Iโm not going to see this woke garbage and these remakes are getting extremely repetitive, but I can totally see it being a box office success or a total flop. Itโs arguable people will go see it because of the fact(s) that itโs The Little Mermaid brand, that sheโs black (because people who are black will go and watch it), and that kids might like it. But itโs also arguable people wonโt see it because it doesnโt look good, some people donโt like these repetitive remakes, and of course they dislike the wokeness

Well, they are all actors, but the way they react to this is anything but genuine. The only moment that feels real is when Halley talks about how heavy her hair were.

As I said before:
I mean no harm to this movie and I don't want to be rude, but I would much rather have the Broadway musical starring Sierra Boggess as Ariel become a live action/remake of The Little Mermaid along with Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby and the rest original cast from the Broadway musical.
In this movie it won't be the same as Ariel's sisters don't have the same names as they have in the cartoon+Broadway musical, Scuttle will be a female diving bird instead of a male seagull, Snarfblat/pipe will not exist because Disney has banned everything that has to do with smoke/tobacco forever in future Disney movies including in this movie and there will surely be other things as well that won't be the same.
I don't have high expectations for this movie, but I will see it anyway.
Such a sadness that Pocahontas doesn't get a live action/remake movie.
