I may not be original, but Beatrice is a true gift to the music world, is the greatest musician of our generation and is among the best Chopin interpreters. I have played and listened to these "etudes" hundreds of times and this monumental rendition is amazing for the amount of hidden details (yet all there in the score) that are pure poetry. And... what an incredible genius Chopin was!! When he composed the Op. 25 he was about the same age as Beatrice in this performance...two kiddies, creating and recreating timeless masterpieces of mankind...

Beatrice is so sensitive and transformed everything between the sheets of the very sensitive Frederic Chopin! Usually I avoid listening to any artist playing the whole op 25 or op 10 in a concert. Beatrice is on of the very few artist who can perform without bothering the audience! Stay healthy Beatrice! And don’t ever change your attitudes!

I was fortunate to hear Beatrice Rana perform these live last year. She's an immense musician, brave and insightful enough to take her own line on the familiar. I feel she's almost reinvented these technical studies as a single, coherent, suite - a fully-fledged concert work. Thank you for posting. (While I'm here, why is 'Music in this video' wrong?)

Absolutely magnificent. Such depth and feeling. Truly inspiring! The best i have ever heard of these etudes. This is how it must sound in Heaven i believe.
Thank you x 1000, 1000! . Greetings from Maria Rosolemos(i am a pianist living in meiringen, switzerland)
P.s.(29.9.22) i was at your concert last night in Ascona. There were many truly beautiful parts - much of the Skrjabin, the slow movrments of Chopin and Beethoven - truly very touching and beautifully played from the heart. But i would like to give you a constructive critic for the faster , louder parts : the accoustics in this large church respond mercilessly when one plays beyond a certain speed and dynamic. Unfortunately - that which was most probably coherent and clear in a much smaller room- was sadly often a jumble of sound without space to breathe and be clearly heard. . You need to take the tempi A LOT slower, in order for the beauty of this very complex music to come across. Many years ago i played Schubert's 'Wanderer Fantasie' in a large church in Rome. Fortunately i had a colleague pianist to advise me at the rehearsal a day before. We realized that i had to reshape my playing completely! - i remember then at the concert playing about HALF THE SPEED i was used to, and articulating very clearly. I believe this was the answer to the accoustical situation.
Dear colleague - i sincerely hope this feedback helps you on your musical journey through life. You have a magnificent talent, you are a greatly dedicated person and you are able to touch the souls of many, many people in a most positive way with your music. I hope to meet you personally one day.
Warmest greetings from Maria Rosolemos(musician/pianist living in Meiringen/Switzerland).
May God bless and keep you always.

She really is refreshing to listen to. Miss Rana reminds a lot of Pollini’s style with the etudes. Great technical ability and such a level of precision that few can match. But perhaps miss Rana has the advantage of a more feminine touch which is allowing her to make the melody come out more, where many seem to loose it as they rush.

    • @libelle176
      @libelle176 3 년 전 +5

Her performance reminds me more of Arrau´s 50s recording.More human than Pollini´s.And the same sincerity, seriousness, structural clarity, and range of colors as Arrau.

I admire Rana greatly and feel she did best in nos. 2, 11 & 12. I sense, however, that she is still finding her way through these ultra challenging pieces. I don’t think she should commit them to record just yet. Live with them for a number of years, put them aside, forget about them, then come back to them. Anyway, my favorite in both sets of Études, which many also consider a benchmark, remains Backhaus. And I wish Argerich had played them and committed them to record.
