But by doing so they were able to cut the cost of the phone down from $1000 to $700. And in fact they still made them up until late 2022 and they were going for $400.

Don't buy LEDs! they are gonna kill your eyes it's my personal experience out of samsung SuperAmoled. my eyes are burning, eyesight worsens. There is no good LCD option though because all the noobs want "punchy" colors so phone companies are forced to switch LEDs only. i even uploaded a video to show LEDs pwm

I think that OLED is more efficient than IPS, because with a black image on OLEDs the pixels turn off completely, while on LCDs if the pixels are turned off there is always backlighting that consumes energy
