I had a black 01 WS6 for several years, worst car I ever owned. The rear pinion seal started leaking about every 5k miles, the spark plug wires liked to pop off at random, one of the catalytic converters collapsed internally and had to be replaced under warranty and there was a hose for the emission controls up inside the nose that kept coming off and kicking the check engine light about once a week. I miss it though, it looked great, it sounded great, and it was a blast to drive. You just had to plan on some downtime.

I totally agree....and it's also not because I am biased aswell and have a 97 T/A with the 6-speed.

Came here just to find these comments. It's absolutely ridiculous for the title to state "Dirt Cheap", when they're being purchased for 10 to 20k. For someone to think that purchasing a vehicle for that kind of money is cheap, it's really telling of the type of person they are, and what mindset they have. Put guys like these into the life of any random average Joe, and they'll off themselves within the first month. They couldn't handle not being able to buy anything, and everything they want, and always getting their way. All the while, your average person can't even afford the bare necessities that they actually need to survive. 🤦🏻🤷

It's a good deal but Corvette C5s are at their 20 year low. Just got an 01 for $9,000 and the Corvette can handle on a curvy road better. I'm not a drag guy though so clear bias.

Those old f body lt1s and ls1s were faster than advertised, no doubt. I had a 94 z28 and a 2000 SS. Both definitely not "around" 300 hp

Plus it has the X51 powerkit and a limited slip. The LSD was only available in 1999 and 2004 on the 40th Anniversary. Almost nobody ordered the X51. This is an extremely rare car that has been horribly neglected.

That is a super rare car, and he paid about half what it would bring in an auction, he can find some deals, its awesome!

It actually makes good power for bolt ons and Cam LS1. A decent pair of ported 243 heads will easily pick up 50-60 hp tho

Nah, clearly the tune is off running rich, might have some head gasket issue pulling coolant, or something. I would have pulled the plugs while at the dyno and invested in new ones. As well as a tune while there lol

And he clearly states “Third gear is my 1:1” and proceeds to dyno the car….4th gear, like almost every other American car, is the 1:1 gear ratio. I’m sure that would effect the dyno numbers one way or the other.

@@wfomotorsports9122 unless it has some oddball unforeseen aftermarket transmission, 1:1 would be correct…with an automatic. That should have the Tremec T56 6 speed from the factory. With a 1:1 4th gear

There's a dude in town with the American variant of my car that I met at a local car meet with an insta, I think he's under 'bald Supra guy' or something like that. He's got the 7M-GTE, I had the 1G-GTE JDM version. Decent platform for the time, but no headroom, especially compared to the 1JZ/2JZ platform that released shortly thereafter. And absolutely zero aftermarket....
