“Thats a celly, its a tool” has never been a more understood statement in America than it has been right now. This song aged so so well
Can you explain what it means? English is not my first language and I don’t understand what this slang means
I caught that!
@@JourneywithMAMAZURI-hb8nr please sir tell me the meaning of
@@shazzthedonOkay it could mean multiple things so let me try to make it simple for you.
1. "This a celly" could stand for cellphone. "that's a tool" by that part it cuts to the children using their phones to record everything that's happening. Showing that our cellphones can be used as a tool against crimes like those.
2. Or when teenage black boys would be shot in the past because policemen thought they were holding a gun, when they were really holding a cellphone.. So "this a celly" shows that the boys were just holding a cellphone. But the policeman think "thats a tool" as in gun, knife etc.
3. In the past black people used to be locked in the these big box like cages called celly's "this a celly" and it could be a "tool" because it was used against black people black then for racism purposes.
But I think the first 2 make the most sense because when Donald says "this a celly" he literally puts his hands in the shape of a, well, telephone/cellphone. But yeah it's up to you to interprete it the way you will. Hope this helped! :D
@@aestheticbobatea thank you so much sir, very kind of you to explain this. All three of your interpretations are very interesting. Chapeau 👏

2:15 Another layer of symbolism:
Notice how there’s people running in front of the camera as well, but they go by so fast that you almost don’t see it. You’re still focused on the dancing. Basically even when the violence is right in front of you, you’re still not getting it yet and only pay attention to entertainment.
Yes. It's called distracting the masses.
So many layers in this video. Notice how each time there is a shooting they take away the gun in a cloth towel softly.
@@christopherbarnett6841I, too, was on that reddit thread.
We just want to entertain you. 😊
Oh wow! I didn't even notice those people until I went back to see. Thanks for pointing that out!
I noticed how the two times that he actually had a gun he was able to gently place the gun down on the red cloth and walk away without anybody doing anything. BUT when the kids are dancing around him and he holds up his bare hands and pretends to be holding a gun, everybody gets scared and runs. Maybe that's a comment on how "we thought he had a gun" is a prevalent justification for the shooting of unarmed black boys.
I did notice how the bodies were dragged away and his gun was treated like some golden ticket. Also notice at 2:14 some guy jumps to his death and nobody gives a shit 😳
Bro think this is English class
@@c-moon8789
metaphors and social commentary is LITERALLY the point of this song and video

“This a celly, that’s a tool” This line hits hard because people wouldn’t know about the murders unless they had phones
It also has another double-meaning as guns are often referred to as ‘tools’ in a lot of street slang. People have been shot by police for pulling out their cell phones and police “mistake” the phone for a gun.
“This a celly-“ is what the person pulling it out would be thinking, “-that’s a tool” is what the cop would be thinking before they shoot.
its also a reference to Stephen Clark who was accused of have a gun and was gunned down is own backyard just to find out her only had his cellphone
or that the victim in question was holding a cell phone that the police "thought was a gun" and then killed them....
The song was made to have fun not about social standings and shit
